Lobenberg: 2017 mit 70% Cabernet Sauvignon. Intensive, schwarzfruchtige Nase. Viel Eukalyptus und Minze über Cassis und Brombeere. Auch schwarze Kirsche. Fein und rassig zugleich. Reif und trotzdem jetzt schon mineralische Frische anzeigend. Im Mund die hohe Intensität der Nase aufgreifend, mit einer wahnsinnigen Kalkstein-/Salzspur im Finale. Ganz reife, schwarze Cabernet. Cassis, aber nichts Fettes, sondern raffiniert, vibrierend, dynamisch. Das ist schon sehr schicker Stoff. Sehr lang. Lynch Bages hat einen Run seit einigen Jahren. Und 2017 steht dem in Nichts nach. Der letzte Kick von 2016 fehlt vielleicht. Der letzte super schicke, stylische Punkt oben drüber. So ist es aber zumindest ein ganz hervorragender Lynch Bages und einer der großen Weine der besten Appellation des Jahres. Sicherlich sind Pichon Comtesse und Pontet Canet in der Vormachtstellung nicht gefährdet, geschweige denn ein Premier Cru, aber Lynch Bages kommt schon gleich dahinter. Das ist ein superber Erfolg. 96-97+/100

-- Suckling: This is a focused and tight Lynch with beautiful blackcurrants, slate, graphite and lead pencil. Medium to full body. Very fine tannins and brightness. Linear line of tannins that runs nicely through the wine. A blend of 70% cabernet sauvignon, 24% merlot, 4% cabernet franc and 2% petit verdot. 95/100

This blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot begins with fascinating aromatics of red and dark berries, fresh floral, tobacco, graphite, herbs and licorice that all take shape beautifully in the glass. This possesses a gorgeous medium-plus body with remarkable balance and structure. It goes on to impress as it displays wonderful purity and elegance through the beautiful long finish. An incredible effort that should go on to have a tremendous future ahead. 95/100

-- Decanter: Another wine that is packed with Pauillac signature; one where you feel the tightness and the bristle of the tannins. They have done a great job of carefully extracting the tannins while maintaining a fresh menthol current running through the backbone of the wine. The fruit lacks a little plushness and concentration compared to the 2016 or 2018, but this is impressive. It's a year where names count, and Lynch Bages is claiming its place at the table. 95/100

-- Gerstl: Das ist grosse Klasse, schon mit seinem überaus edlen Duft setzt er ein eindrückliches Ausrufezeichen, diese Frische, diese Intensität, diese Vielfalt, eine phänomenale Duftwolke. Ein wunderbar schlanker, aber auch kraftvoller, komplexer Lynch, erinnert etwas an den genialen 88er mit etwas wämerer Ausstrahlung, der Wein ist zutiefst delikat, gleichzeitig ein immenses Kraftbündel, wunderschön auf der erfrischenden kühlen Seite, ohne dadurch seinen Charme zu verlieren, er besitzt eine grosse Tanninmasse, die komplett seidig ist, langes aromatisches irre komplexes Finale. 19+/20

Rocking blackcurrants, chocolate, smoked tobacco, and obvious minerality all emerge from this beautiful, concentrated wine that has building tannins, the more elegant, silky style of the vintage, a great mid-palate, and a blockbuster finish. It's going to hit the ground running in about 5-7 years and cruise 20 years or more in cool cellars. 95/100
