Lobenberg: 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot, 3% Cabernet Franc. 14% Alkohol. 40hl Ertrag, geringer als sonst. Extrem charmante, rotfruchtige Waldbeerennase mit feiner Praline und Schokolade. Dann kommen erdige Würze, Johannisbrotbaum, provencalische Gewürze, Gesteinsmehl. Extrem komplexe Nase. Tänzelt. Süße und Rasse zugleich. Brillianter Mund. Die Rasse springt einen an, sensationelle Säure, geschliffenes Tannin. Der Wein hallt zwei Minuten nach. Der Wein tänzelt zwischen roter und schwarzer Frucht hin und her. Schokolade, salzige Mineralität, ganz grandios in seiner Frische, Feinheit und Rasse. Die Kellerarbeit bezüglich des Tanninmanagements war grandios, nur Saft, keinerlei Bitterstoffe der Kerne, weich und rund und lecker in der tollen Wucht. Das Tannin ist dabei immens und drückt von unten nach, aber bleibt immer fein und geschliffen dabei. Das ist große Harmonie. Das ist zusammen mit Las Cases und klar noch vor Leoville Barton, St.Pierre und Gruaud der St. Julien des Jahrgangs. 100/100

Full-bodied, dense purple in color, with floral notes intermixed with blackberries, cassis, graphite and spring flowers, this full-bodied, legendary effort is long and opulent, with wonderfully abundant yet sweet tannin, a skyscraper-like mid-palate and a thrilling, nearly one-minute finish. This spectacular effort from Poyferre that should drink well for 30+ years. 98+/100

Cassis, bilberry, cigarbox, curling woodsmoke, bitter chocolate, rosemary, blue fruit, coffee. There is clear acidity here but it is matched pace for pace by fleshy textured fruit and slate, tugging, slowed-down tannins. Harvest October 1 to 18. 80% new oak. 98/100
