Lobenberg: Dieser 100%-ige Merlot wird vom gleichen Team wie Vieux Chateau Certan des Cousins Alexandre Thienpont bearbeitet. Das Terroir ist Lehm und Sand. 13% Alkohol bei 100% Merlot. Die Ernte fand relativ früh zwischen dem 23. und 30. September statt. Der Ertrag betrug etwas über 20 Hektoliter, die totale Säure ist 3,6 Gramm, der pH-Wert 3,5. Das Weingut ist 2,8 Hektar groß, der Durchschnitt liegt bei 5.000 Flaschen. Obwohl dieser Wein von Alexandre und Guillaume Thienpont von Vieux Chateau Certan gemacht wird, sind wir im Charakter völlig anders. 100% Merlot auf völlig anderen Böden. Die Nase ist eine Fruchtbombe in Erdbeere, Himbeere, Johannisbeere und unendlich dichter Kirsche. Viel monolithischer als Vieux Chateau Certan, dafür berauschend in der aromatischen Fruchtintensität. Im Mund kommt dann guter Grip dazu, eine schöne Säure bei diesem Wein. Die Feinheit der Kirschen nimmt zu - feine rote Kirsche mit Sauerkirsche, Salz und Sand. Der Wein ist extrem seidig, keinerlei Härte im Tannin. Der Wein macht schon im Fassweinstadium unglaubliche Trinkfreude und hat saftigen Fluss. Das ist kein großer Le Pin, aber ein enorm gefälliger Wein. Keiner der Superstars des Jahrgangs, das gelang doch scheinbar nur mit etwas mehr Cabernet-Anteil. Einfach nur lecker, dicht und aromatisch, eine delikate Köstlichkeit für Millionären. 95-96/100

-- WS: Delivers its telltale aroma of succulent raspberry fruit, with beguiling spice and an echo of boysenberry and blackberry. The structure is solid, but remains remarkably silky and thoroughly ensconced in the fruit. A fine mineral accent emerges on the finish, revealing echoes of violet and lavender, but this is basically all fruit, the whole fruit and nothing but the fruit, and there's nothing wrong with that. -- Gerstl: Das ist pure Frucht und gleichzeitig knisternde Erotik, was für ein sinnliches überaus vielfältiges Parfüm. Es ist unmöglich in Worte zu fassen, was da abgeht, der Wein ist eigentlich total schlicht, völlig unkompliziert, total offen und zugänglich, aber da ist eine absolut einmalige Aromatik, das kann nur Le Pin sein, da ist irgendetwas, man kann es nicht fassen, höchstens fühlen, es ist faszinierend, der Wein geht direkt ins Herz, er hat nicht die überragende Grösse von Vieux Certan aber auf seine Art auch überregend, vor allem einmalig. 19/20

-- Galloni: The 2014 Le Pin is a stratospheric, deeply moving wine. Here, the gravelly soils allowed for excellent drainage and gave the Thienpont family all the conditions needed for a late harvest. Rich, powerful and voluptuous in the glass, the 2014 boasts superb depth and concentration to match its exuberant personality. A deep, sensual wine, in 2014 Le Pin has it all. Hints of lavender, violets, plums and cassis are layered into the spellbinding finish. In 2014, this is just about as good as it gets. -- Antonio Galloni 94-97/100

-- Parker: Jacques Thienpont told me that the Le Pin 2014 was picked between 23 and 30 September at a yield of 24 hectoliter per hectare. The wine has 13% alcohol and a pH of 3.5. Of course, its gravelly soils would have been beneficial in coping with the rain compared to those on less well-drained clay soils. It has a well-defined, focused bouquet that is not as complex as a top vintage Le Pin but there is a pleasant underlying mineralité that I believe will be expressed in bottle. The palate is medium-bodied with edgy tannin, a little pinched on the mid-palate with a very linear finish with a saline, citrus fresh finish. This is one of the most tensile vintages that I have tasted in recent years: not as complex as others (and I've tasted them all except the four barrels of 2013), but it is full of nascent energy. Rather than thinking of this as Le Pin, it’s just a supremely well-crafted Pomerol. 92-94/100
