Lobenberg: Ein Weingut aus der Moueix-Gruppe. 8 Hektar. 96% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc. Auf Kies und Lehm, teilweise auch Sand, stehend. La Tour a Pomerol ist ein fast legendärer Name. Hier gab es über die Jahrzehnte bis zu 100 Punkte von verschiedenen Bewertern, aber auch schon klare Enttäuschungen. Sehr schöne feine Schwarzkirschnase, sehr zart, ein Hauch schwarze Erde dazu, Holzkohle, sehr fein bleibend, schwebend, gute mittlere Fokussierung im Mund, ziemlich viel Grip. Im ersten Anlauf ganz fein, total seidige Tannine, alles geschliffen. Der Mund ist zart, fast etwas schlank scheinend, das Tannin aber dann mit Schmackes hinterherkommend, aber auch das bleibt weich. Der Wein zeigt Druck und gleichzeitig eine unglaubliche Feinheit. Ich glaube er braucht einfach Zeit um seine Kraft zu zeigen. Die so unglaublich schwebende Eleganz eines wirklich sehr großen und feinen Pomerol. 96-98/100

-- Gerstl: Feiner, aber sogar noch einen Hauch raffinierer im Duft als einige der grossen Pomerol vom Moueix, das ist schlicht traumhaft, die sensationelle Würze und raffiniert floralen Düfte sind ein Traum. Was für eine wunderbare Süsse am Gaumen, in Verbindung mit der sprichwörtlichen Frische des Jahrgangs, dann die sensationelle Tanninstruktur, welche die himmlischen Aromen trägt, ein sinnlicher Traumwein. 19+/20

-- Suckling: Wow. This is clearly the best Latour à Pomerol for over 30 years. Full and fabulously silky, it shows so much depth of fruit and length. It goes on for minutes. Mostly merlot with a touch of cabernet franc. 96-97/100

-- Gabriel: Sattes Purpur-Granat, dicht in der Mitte, lila Schimmer aussen. Sehr intensives, fast überfruchtiges Bouquet, von Cassis bis dunklen Pflaumen reichend, dahinter eine tolle Merlotwürze zeigend, vermischt mit einer Nuance von Tabak. Im Gaumen geht es gleich weiter so, da ist viel Aromenpower vorhanden, sattes Extrakt, nachhaltiges Finale. Er liegt sehr nahe seinem eigenen 1998er (19/20) und kann in seiner Reife vielleicht sein Nachfolger werden. 19/20

The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin and superb delineation—this is so focused and tensile, yet the finish shows immense panache and you will not be able to resist that silky smooth finish.
