Lobenberg: Das Weingut, direkt neben Chateau Pavie an den Kalkstein-Hängen des Hochplateaus gelegen, gehört zur Jackson-Gruppe aus Kalifornien. Der Winemaker und Mitbesitzer Pierre Seilan war früher bei Verite, das ja zu Jackson gehört. Irgendwie merkt man das. Lila-rot-schwarz, öliig, fast fett. Eine Wuchtbrumme mit opulentem Bouquet und gnadenlos fruchtintensivem Aroma. Aber mit Struktur! Und neben fetter Schwarzkirsche, Brombeere, Veilchen, Cassis und Lakritze auch feine Waldhimbeere und ein Touch Sauerkirsche. Fett und fein zugleich. 94/100

-- Decanter: Cassis and blackberry laced with cumin, turmeric and saffron - these are plenty of tannins here even at 11 years old, but they are melted into the body of the wine. As it opens, a slate minerality tugs underneath, adding texture to the close of play and suggesting there is plenty of life ahead. An unusual blend, with higher Cabernet Sauvignon than usual, thanks to a hail storm in May that took out a sizeable section of Merlot grapes, and left a yield of around 22hl/ha. 92/100

-- Parker: This estate is owned by Jess Jackson and the wine made by his superstar winemaker Pierre Seillan. Backward and unevolved, with perhaps too much oak showing at this stage of its life, the 2009 Lassegue has a dense purple color and a thick, sumptuous attack and mid-palate, a boatload of tannin, and a huge, concentrated finish. The wine is very promising, but at the same time almost painfully unevolved and young. Forget it for 7-8 years. (Tasted once.) 90-92/100
