Lobenberg: Üppiges Rubinrot mit schwarzen Reflexen. Erstaunlich schwarzbeerige und sehr verschlossene Nase. Auch im Mund für Ducru ungewöhnlich viel schwarze Frucht, dennoch sehr klassischer Aufbau mit sehr guter Länge und guter Fülle. Sehr guter, wenn auch kein ganz großer Wein. 94+/100

-- Suckling: An incredible nose, with insane richness and notes of spices, leather, and sultanas. Full-bodied, with an amazing concentration of fruit and velvety tannins. A real blockbuster, lots of material here. Don’t touch it for five years, pull the cork after 2015. 97/100

-- Parker: One of the most compelling Ducru Beaucaillou's made in the last quarter century is the 2003 (which is also the first vintage to be packaged in an impressive heavy glass bottle with a special long cork). A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, it is a powerful, tannic, blockbuster effort revealing a liqueur of mineral-like component intermixed with creme de cassis, raspberry, and flower characteristics, and an atypically high 13.5% alcohol. Having firmed up considerably since bottling, it exhibits tremendous definition, weight, and concentration. It is a wine for patient connoisseurs. A brilliant tour de force! 96/100

-- Decanter: The 2003 has a very different oak management in style with toasted notes intertwined with a delicate array of dark berries, spices, graphite, and liquorice. It's medium to full-bodied with nicely integrated oak aromas and delivers immense complexity and character. Black berries and spices with aeration. The palate is fleshy and has velvety tannins and long, penetrating finish. It's already approachable yet will keep for 20 years. 95/100
