Lobenberg: Vajra erzeugt ungefähr 80.000 Flaschen Barolo aus 20 Hektar Rebfläche. 1971 hat man hier auf biologische Bewirtschaftung umgestellt. Damals war das noch revolutionär und erfolgte gegen alle Widerstände der damals massiv agierenden Chemieindustrie. Ravera ist die berühmteste Lage in Novello, der hervorragendste und bekannteste Erzeuger ist sicherlich Cogno und inzwischen auch Vietti. Ravera ist ein großes Amphitheater, das direkt unter Vajras Lage Bricco delle Viole liegt, mit einer Lehmformation wie eine Lasagne: rote und helle Schichten wechseln sich ab. Sehr komplexe und feine Weine allesamt und Vajra ist voll dabei. Was für eine betörende, grandiose Nase! Der Duft von feinen frischen und getrockneten roten Blumen und roten Beeren raubt mir fast den Atem. Eine total feine Würze schwingt mit, etwas Lorbeer, frische Minze, ein Hauch Tonkabohne. Der Mund ist voller Finesse, mit intensivem Tannin aber einer unwahrscheinlich puristischen Frucht. Rote Johannisbeere und reife Erdbeere. Nasenverführer. Hedonismus pur! 96/100

-- Wine Enthusiast: From the township of Novello and from what is now widely recognized as one of the denomination's top vineyard sites, this stunning wine offers intense aromas of wild berry, new leather, flowers, camphor and grilled herb. The delicious, structured palate shows finesse and power, featuring ripe red cherry, blood orange, cedar, licorice and iron while noble tannins provide support. Reflecting the vintage, this won't need years to come around but will also age well for at least another decade. Drink 2022–2032. 97/100

-- Galloni: The 2017 Barolo Ravera is gorgeous right out of the gate. I am so impressed with its depth and pedigree. Rose petal, sweet red berry fruit, lavender, spice and dried herbs are all finely delineated in a Barolo of tremendous presence. Orange peel, cinnamon and cedar develop later, adding shades of dimension. Time in the glass brings out the wine's stature and power. The 2017 is going to be fascinating to follow. Today, it is just breathtaking. That's all there is to it. 95/100
