Lobenberg: Vajra erzeugt ungefähr 80.000 Flaschen Barolo aus 20 Hektar Rebfläche. 1971 hat man hier auf biologische Bewirtschaftung umgestellt. Damals war das noch revolutionär und erfolgte gegen alle Widerstände der damals massiv agierenden Chemieindustrie. Der Wein stammt aus drei verschiedenen Cru-Lagen innerhalb der Comune Barolo. Da diese Lagen von verschiedenen Expositionen und von 380 bis 480 Höhenmetern kommen, gibt es hier drei Sonnenaufgänge (italienisch Albe). Für 18 Monate in großen Slawonischen Eichenfässern von 40, 50 und 75 hl ausgebaut. Mittleres klar leuchtendes Rubinrot. An der Nase jede Menge reife Erdbeeren, Cranberry sowie rote und schwarze Kirsche. Dann etwas Vanillewürze und viel Veilchen. Intensiv und dicht, gleichzeitig klar und harmonisch. Im Mund sehr weinig, viel Tannin aber total rund poliert und fein strukturiert. Ein Hauch Minze und schwebende Kräuteraromen. Tannennadeln, ätherische Kräuter. 94/100

Albe is a brand on its own, and it represents one of the most versatile, accessible and well-priced Baroli to emerge from the appellation. The G.D. Vajra 2016 Barolo Albe sets off on the right foot, offering forthcoming intensity with forest fruit, wild cherry, crushed stone and blue flowers. Winemaking is straightforward in stainless steel, and the wine finishes in Slavonian oak casks. Some 40,000 bottles are hitting the market now. 94/100

Juicy and delicious, the chewy palate doles out succulent Marasca cherry, crushed raspberry and white pepper.
