Lobenberg: Barbera aus Serralunga. Man denkt unwillkürlich an eisenhaltige, lehmige Böden, maskuline Weine, reine Kraft. Aber Roberto Conterno kommt mit seinen familiären Wurzeln aus Monforte und verfolgt eben einen Finesseweg wie die Cousins von Aldo Conterno. Delikate Weine, blumig, voll frischer Rasse und Finesse. Rote statt schwarze und blaue Frucht, Minze, Kirsche in allen Schattierungen, Rosenblätter, Salz und Gesteinsmehl. Power und spannungsgeladene Intensität in Tateinheit mit verspielter, seidiger, verträumter Komplexität und samtigem Trinkfluss. Sehr schick. 94-95/100

Sweet rose petals, mint, cinnamon and red berries are all laced together in a soft, polished Barbera long on class and finesse. Perfumed notes continues to open up in the glass, while brighter, more saline-inflected notes give the wine its sense of energy and tension. This is a magnificent showing. Barbera is celebrated, or sometimes criticized, for its high acidity. That freshness is expertly managed and tamed in this standout wine. The 2012 vintage was especially kind to Barbera. 94/100
