Lobenberg: 61 Prozent Sauvignon Blanc, 38 Prozent Semillon und ein Prozent Muscadelle. Im Vorfeld konnte ich nicht glauben, dass 2019, ein Jahr mit so vielen Sonnenstunden und Wärme, so überragende Weißweine hervorbringt. Gerade zuvor waren wir bei Cos d´Estournel – der Weißwein ist genial. Smith, Domaine de Chevalier – das sind alles große Weißweine dieses Jahr. Und dieser Ail d´Argent ist so köstlich! Die Nase ist so fern von normaler Sauvignon Blanc, weil sie einfach so viel Liebreiz hat. Pfirsich und Aprikose, zum Reinspringen schön. Leichte Muskatnote von dem minimalen Anteil Muscadelle. Auch die Semillon bringt einen Touch Weichheit, einen Touch Weißburgunder. So eine Köstlichkeit! Im Mund das Ganze dann mit relativ viel Grip unterlegt. Wow, der Wein hat richtig Druck. Und es bleibt trotzdem in dieser nussig-aprikosigen Pfirsich-Zitronengraswelle. Große Länge, fast auf dem Level wie der zuvor probierte Cos Blanc. Unglaublich lecker und trotzdem weiß man, dass er lange halten wird. Erstmalig bei Mouton einen großen Weißwein probiert. Das gefällt mir ganz hervorragend! 96-97/100

-- Suckling: A very exotic Aile d’Argent with dried-mango, fresh-pineapple, and sliced-lemon aromas and flavors. Full-bodied and very ripe, yet it’s framed by bright acidity. Tangy and vivid with a long, intense finish. Exciting. Contrastive. 38% semillon and the rest sauvignon blanc and gris. 97-98/100

-- Decanter: You just know that Aile d'Argent is going to suit a vintage like this, where the warmth of the summer accentuates the rich apricot, white pear and juicy nectarine flavours of the wine. This tiny drop of Muscadelle gives lift and florality to the finish, and overall there is width, depth and texture aplenty, with a fabulous lick of salinity on the finish. Does a great job of walking the tightrope - and the team under Philippe Dhalluin are not afraid of underlining the texture of the wine, giving 17% of the production some malolactic fermentation, one of the rare Bordeaux whites to do so. Harvest September 7 to 11. 95/100

-- Jane Anson: Rich and ripe apricot and powerful nectarine aromatics on the nose, with juicy white peach flesh, given focus by bitter orange zest and chalky tannins. This feels creamy, but there is clear lift on the finish, with touches of fennel and dill, and hints of white truffle that will deepen as it ages. Good quality, enjoyable, and full of personality. Bottled in June 2021. Harvest September 5 to 11. 95/100
