Lobenberg: Ein exzellenter Rebsortenwein. Der Godello wächst oberhalb von 600 Metern auf Weinbergen im Valle del Silencio (León). Die Böden sind hier Lehm und Sand. Nach der Handlese wird der Wein bei kontrollierten Temperaturen in 2.500-Liter-Fuderfässern vergoren, wo er dann ganze 8 Monate lang auf seiner Feinhefe verbringt. Fantastische Nase mit großer Tiefe und Fülle einerseits und mineralischer Frische andererseits. Wir haben grüne Birne, ein Hauch Apfel, auch Kumquat und leichte Anklänge von Gemüse wie Sellerie. Aber dahinter schweben dauerhaft fein-salzige Zitrusaromen und ätherisch-minzige Noten. Am Mund dann volle Breitseite Frische. Die salzige Zitrone schlägt ein. Wow, was für eine satte Frische auf der Zungenmitte. An den Seiten schieben sich Apfel und eine tolle Bitterorange vorbei und hinten fügt sich alles zusammen mit einem Bund Kräuterwürze mit Waldmeisternoten. Superkomplex, eine filigrane Architektur im Mund. Das macht schon richtig Spaß. Aufgrund der Texturen ohne Frage ein grandioser Essensbegleiter, aber auch so wird die Flasche leer, denn jeder neue Schluck bringt wieder den salzigen Kick zurück auf die Zunge. 94/100

-- Weingut: El Zarzal is a wine with a clear varietal that respects the identity of the Godello variety without losing its freshness. The vegetative period of 2021 began with rains and high water reserves built up over winter. Spring temperatures remained at normal levels, with episodes of slightly cold nights and light precipitation. The dry summer period lasted until days before the grape harvest. The harvest was started early to guarantee the optimum point of ripeness of the grapes. Fermented at controlled temperature in stainless steel deposits with subsequent ageing on the lies in French oak foudres. Straw yellow in colour, on the nose it surprises with its expressiveness and complexity, with notes of white fruits characteristic of the godello grape, nuanced by time and its passage through wood, it is joined by aniseed nuances of dried flowers and a typical minerality of the great vintages. On the palate, the integration of the natural acidity of the godello grape with the smoothness provided by the lees is noticeable, resulting in a harmonious wine that is easy to drink and has a very pleasant aftertaste.
