Xarello Nun Vinya dels Taus
-- Parker: The top of the range here is the 2018 Nun Vinya Dels Taus, pure Xarel.lo from 0.67 hectares of vines planted in 1945. It fermented in 300-liter oak barrels, 35% of them new, and the wine matured in those barrels for eight months, until it was bottled without clarification or stabilization. It has 12.5% alcohol and a low pH of 3.04, reflecting a cooler year with lower alcohol and more freshness and acidity, which is noticeable when compared to the 2019 and 2020. Here, I like the seriousness and austerity of the 2018, which make it fresh, nuanced, complex and elegant. The cooler year and the restraint seem to work better with these old vines, producing a superb wine, still lively and fresh and with life ahead of it. It's pungent and has a saline twist in the finish. 3,216 bottles were filled in May 2019. 96/100
