-- Parker: The Adams family, Americans, have done a magnificent job with this famous property on the south side of St.-Emilion. Now farmed organically, this wine exhibits an inky purple color, a gorgeous nose of blackberry and cassis fruit, sweet cherries, licorice and spice. It is full-bodied, ripe, opulent, pure and a great success in this vintage. The wine should drink well for 15 or more years. 93+/100

-- Jeb Dunnuck: The 2012 Château Fonplegade is also gorgeous and shows how strong 2012 was for Saint-Emilion (and Pomerol and Graves). Cassis, violets, toasty oak, licorice and damp earth notes all emerge from this full-bodied, concentrated, ripe and sexy wine that has terrific purity and depth. 93/100

-- Decanter: This for me is really when you start to see the sculpting of the flavour profile of Fonplégade, and the work that the Adams have put in place beginning to pay off (the vineyard was organic by this point, receiving certification in 2013). I prefer the 2011 vintage as a general rule but here at this particular estate the 2012 is better - just has more texture and yet a lovely cooling core that makes your mouth water. Clean and precise aromatics also, really an excellent wine. 85% new oak, rest in cement eggs. 93/100
