Pierre Lurton – Cheval Blanc / Château d’Yquem
»It’s not a late-ripening vintage, but each grower has a specific terroir and his own philosophy. We pick the Merlot ripe, but al dente. With each passing year the Merlot stylistically seems to resemble the Cabernet Franc – floral and red berry aromas and great freshness rather than very ripe, jammy black fruit.«
Pauline Vauthier – Ausone
»After one or two tricky vintages there’s always a temptation to go a bit over the top when a very good vintage comes along. I don’t want to claim that 2015 is another 2010. Not yet anyway!«
Alexandre Thienpont – Vieux Château Certan / Le Pin
»It was a gamble, which has paid off. I didn’t want to look back and regret not waiting. I could easily have picked a week ago, but I was determined to get it exactly right.«
Frédéric Faye – Figeac
»There’s no botrytis at all. The bunches are healthy, and what’s more the ripeness is homogeneous. There’s not much sorting to do. The only concern is keeping the birds out of the vineyard!«
Vincent Prio – Beauregard
»The berries come into the vats in absolutely perfect condition, thanks to a gravity-flow system that includes very gentle de-stemming and a manual and optical sorting line. Temperature control is really state-of-the-art with the system integrated in the concrete walls of the vats to provide perfect thermal inertia …«
