Lobenberg: Die Wiederauferstehung der Legende »Concerto«. Der frühere Topwein von Fonterutoli, ging zwischen Ser Lapo und Siepi verloren, aber jetzt ist er wieder da. Einer DER Supertuscans und mit einem hohen Sangiovese-Anteil und damit einer der interessantesten Verfolger des Tignanello und diesem durchaus gleichwertig, somit ein Schnäppchen. Beide Rebsorten werden getrennt für 18 Monate ausgebaut, der Sangiovese in 500 Liter Tonneaux und der Cabernet Sauvignon in 225 Liter Barriques. Der fertige Blend kommt am Ende noch für 4 Monate in Beton, bevor er auf die Flasche gefüllt wird. Tiefe, erdig würzige Nase mit Leder, etwas Teer, saftiger dunkler Pflaumen, Schwarzkirschen und Brombeeren mit einer feinen weißen Pfeffernote. Schon die Nase ist reich und samtig, cremige Vanille, Zimt und Muskatwürze. Die Balance zwischen Tannin, Säure und Holzwürze ist absolut herausragend. Für mich einer der beeindruckendsten Weine von Fonterutoli! 96/100

-- Decanter: Despite a hot summer in 2021 the nights were cool, which allowed healthy grapes to ripen completely and contributed to the finesse of the tannins, and the Mazzei family has taken a big leap forward in quality, resulting in a wine with increased purity, transparency and finesse. The aromas are clear, bright, and precise with notes of vivid, blackcurrant wrapped in gentle spice. The acidity is vibrant, the flavours are bright and vivacious, and the tannins are fine and beautifully integrated within the wine. This is a stunning wine with effortlessness, ease and flow across the palate. 97/100

-- Jane Anson: A delicious, measured and carefully structured wine, builds slowly through the palate, has typicity of Tuscan Sangiovese in its generosity, held in where it needs to be, and bursting with juicy red fruits, dark spices, turmeric, clove, tobacco, tar. Savoury and yet generous, with mouthwatering juiciness on the finish. Located in Castellina in Chianti, winemaker Gionata Puglignani, owned by the Mazzei family. Ageing in small French oak barrels for the Cabernet Sauvignon, larger sized for the Sangiovese, 70% new, plus three months in concrete tanks before release. Second tasting after a recent vertical, absolutely confirms its success. 96/100

-- Weinwisser: Aus einem Jahr mit kühlen Nächten, was sich positiv im Wein zeigt. Edles Bouquet, dunkle Kirschen, Zeder, frisches Leder und ätherische Noten. Hoch elegant im Duft und im Mund, wow, die super feinen Tannine fallen sofort auf, er ist sehr klassisch mit mediterranen Kräutern wie Salbei und Lorbeer, straff gezogen und saftet toll nach, ein frischer Concerto, der im Finale mit cremiger Ausgewogenheit und den typi- schen Würznoten punktet. Wirkt wie aus einem Guss. Muss aber reifen. 96/100

-- Falstaff: Sattes, tiefdunkles Rubin. Präsentiert sich in der Nase mit Noten nach Tabak und Lakritze, dunkle, reife Pflaumen, etwas Waldbeeren. Satt und zugleich geschliffen am Gaumen, baut sich sehr schön auf, samtiges, gut eingebundenes Tannin, hat festen Druck, langer Nachhall. 96/100

The wine delivers dark fruit, cherry liqueur, spice and cured tobacco. This is a contemporary Tuscan wine with broad shoulders, bold structure and rich texture. It needs a few more years of bottle age to let the tannins smooth out. Production is 34,800 bottles. 95/100

It is surrounded by thick forests on three sides. The role of the forest especially in the hills of Chianti is becoming ever more appreciated as we face hot summers and climate change. This wine remains focused and tight with wild berry, blackcurrant, grilled herb, spice and dark mineral tones. To the palate, there is plenty of sweet fruit followed by nicely integrated, dry tannins. 94/100
