Lobenberg: Der Wein wird zu 100 Prozent in neuem Holz vergoren und ausgebaut. Das Holz ist Allier und Troncais aus der eigenen Tonnellerie von Guigal, die jeden Tag drei bis vier neue Fässer herstellen kann. Der Wein verbleibt für 3 Jahre in den Fässern. Wie auch die Cote Roties sehr aromatisch komplex, aber sonst in seiner Veranlagung auch sehr klassisch. Mit unglaublicher Intensität und Dampf aus dem Glas strömend. Wow, ist das ein Konzentrat. Aber so schick, so poliert schon in der Nase. Schwarze Johannisbeere mit Eukalyptus und Tropenholz, grünes Zigarrendeckblatt und Oolongtee, süße Erde, Kräutersud. Die Komplexität berauscht alle Sinne. Dabei strahlt er eine unheimliche Trinkfreude aus, sehr bemerkenswert, wenn man bedenkt, dass es sich um einen sehr jungen Hermitage handelt. Groß! 100/100

-- Jeb Dunnuck: The 2018 Hermitage Ex Voto is stunning, and comes closest in my mind to a mix of the 2015 and 2016. Showing more blue fruits, violets, chocolate, and a liquid rock-like minerality, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, massive amounts of fruit, and building tannins. While the 2017 has more upfront exuberance, I love the purity, depth, and sheer class of the 2018.98-100/100

-- Galloni: Inky ruby color. Ripe black and blue fruits, Moroccan spices, smoky bacon, incense, olive, candied flowers and licorice on the hugely perfumed nose. Alluringly sweet and penetrating in the mouth, offering palate-staining, mineral-driven cherry, blackberry, floral pastille and exotic spice flavors that are underscored by a core of juicy acidity. Lingers with outstanding tenacity on the youthfully tannic, almost endless finish, which leaves behind sappy dark berry, spice and floral notes. 98/100

-- Parker: To my mind, the 2018 Ermitage Ex Voto represents something of a breakthrough for this cuvée. Marked by an intense crème de framboise character, it offers fabulous fruit and tremendous concentration without any sense of heaviness. It's full-bodied but comes across as silky and lacy in structure, with a long, mouthwatering finish. Bravo. 96-98
