Champagne Grand Cru Les Vozémieux Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut
-- Jeb Dunnuck zu 2017: From the village of Oger, the 2017 Champagne Grand Cru Les Vozemieux Extra Brut was aged for 10 months on the lees without stirring and was vinified and raised on oak barrels with malo. Pouring a bit deeper but youthful yellow color, the nose is assertive and powerful on opening, displaying the noble character of this village in a warm year. It reveals notes of preserved lemon, salty earth, toasted bread, and ripe pear. The palate is similarly assertive and rich, with a good deal of ripe, rich extract, but it remains fresh, with the texture of citrus oils coating the palate and a long, luxurious finish. It has both power and grace, without ever feeling austere or green, and has a lightly warming finish. Drink over the coming 15 years. It needs time to come into its own. It was disgorged in 2023 and saw zero dosage.
