-- Weingut: The story of La Tour Blanche begins with Osiris, the nickname given to Daniel Ifflfla, the late owner who acquired the Château in 1876. He dedicated his lifework to maintaining the status of Château La Tour Blanche at its’ esteemed level as the fifirst Château in the category of Premiere Grand Cru Classé in the Sauternes appellation’s classifification of 1855.Osiris continued to modernize techniques and tools to achieve excellence. As a businessman, he managed the Château to a perfection with a new, and modern vision.He was revered as a man with a great heart, as seen through his philanthropy and specififically through the love story between him and his wife, Leonie; Leonie, a Christian, and Osiris, of Jewish faith.At the time, Christian and Jewish cemeteries were separated by walls and the simple idea of resting far from her husband was unbearable to Leonie. She made him promise to acquire the closest plots in order to remain side by side for the rest of eternity.Leonie’s premature death changed the destiny of Osiris. Inconsolable, he made her room a sanctuary, remained faithful to her until the end of his life, and tirelessly sought to honor the promise he had made to her to rest together for eternity.This vintage is an ode to love, an ode to passion, the passion that we put into our work, vowing to always create exceptional wines with the ambition to express the emotions of this unique site, and a vision of viticulture.Leonie of La Tour Blanche is a wine made from a selection of older Semillon and Sauvignon vines, grown by organic farming on soil with clay and limestone. This dry white wine is an expression of the exceptional terroirs of La Tour Blanche.The juice is fermented in barrels previously used for the fifirst wine of the Château, the Premier Grand Cru Classé of Sauternes. We then begin the aging process with the incorporation of a thin layer of sediments which are stirred regularly.This elegant, vibrant, and atypical dry white wine pays the perfect homage to an extraordinary couple.
