Lobenberg: Der Besitzer ist Philippe Cuvelier. Sein Sohn Mathieu ist Gutsdirektor. Das ist Saint-Émilion vom Allerfeinsten. In der Nachbarschaft von Clos Saint Martin direkt an der Kirche gelegen. Argilo-calcaire auf reinem Kalkstein. Im Durchschnitt 9.000 Stöcke pro Hektar. Die Reben sind im Durchschnitt 25 Jahre alt. Auch hier wieder das Traum-Duo der Berater des rechten Ufers: Stéphane Derenoncourt und der Pétrus-Önologe Jean Claude Berrouet. Spontan vergoren in kleinen Inox-Behältern. Der Tresterhut wird nur von Hand runtergedrückt. Bis zu 30 Tage Fermentation. Die Malo danach im Barrique. 50 Prozent Neuholz, 50 Prozent gebrauchtes Holz. Der Ausbau dauert rund 18 Monate. Es gibt sehr kleine Erträge pro Hektar, nur circa 500 Gramm Trauben pro Stock. Rund 50.000 Flaschen insgesamt. Das Weingut ist 20 Hektar groß. 2020: Rumtopf mit Kirschlikör in der Nase, satte Backpflaumen. Tiefe, würzige schwarze Kirschen, etwas Cassis dahinter und feine Lakritze. Das klingt jetzt ungemein fett, es ist aber durchaus fein. Das ist nur die Aromatik. Auch der Mund ist so opulent, hat aber trotzdem einen kühlen Trinkfluss. Schwarze Kirsche, Cassis, süße Brombeere und wieder Lakritze. Minze dahinter, reich. Mittlere Länge, mittlerer Körper. Guter, auch durchaus feiner Saint-Émilion, aber nicht ganz groß und klar hinter 2019. 97-98+/100

-- VertdeVin: Die Nase ist fein, elegant und bietet Delikatesse, Harmonie, Fülle und Tiefe. Wir finden Noten von heller Heidelbeere, Kirsche und etwas Himbeere, verbunden mit einem Hauch von Blaubeere, Lakritze und feinen Punkten von rassiger Mineralität (schön geprägt von seinem Terroir). Der Gaumen ist frisch, zart, ganz Präzision und Delikatesse und bietet Gierigkeit, gute Definition, eine gewisse Intensität, Saftigkeit, Geschmeidigkeit, eine schöne Finesse des Korns sowie ein wenig Kraft, eine gewisse Konzentration. Am Gaumen zeigt der Wein Noten von hellen Brombeeren, Heidelbeeren und etwas Lilie in Verbindung mit Anklängen von Himbeeren sowie Anklänge von roter Johannisbeere, Johannisbeerblatt, rassige Mineralität, feine Anklänge von Kardamom, Gewürzen und einen Hauch von minzigem Lakritz. Die Tannine sind präzise, weich und elegant. Schöne Länge. 98/100

-- Jeb Dunnuck: One of the biggest successes on the upper plateau is the 2020 Château Clos Fourtet, and it does everything right in the vintage. A magical, perfumed bouquet of red plums, black cherries, white truffle, and white flowers just screams Saint-Emilion, and it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, flawless overall balance, a dense mid-palate, and a liqueur of rocks-like minerality on the palate. Building incrementally with time in the glass, this is thrilling stuff that should offer some up-front appeal in its youth yet benefit from 7-8 years in the cellar and keep for 30 years or more. Bravo! The blend is 90% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 3% Cabernet Franc that’s still resting in 50% new French oak. 97-99/100

-- Jane Anson: Wonderful limestone character, walking the tightrope of tannins, acidity and fruit, remains pretty austere even after ageing, and this is one to put away for another six or seven years. Serious and concentrated, with creamy blueberry, raspberry and damson pueree appearing as it opens in the glass. 40 hl/ha yield. 18.5ha estate, that will increase in size as of the 2022 vintage due to incusion of neighbouring Les Grands Murailles. -- Decanter: Gorgeous violet and blackberry aromas presage a palate with tannins at first creamy and enveloping but then powerful and structured. In the famous 2018-2019-2020 trio, this vintage gets my nod for the best wet stone raciness, even if it tastes almost like a barrel sample. A gorgeous minty freshness on the long finish. For current pricing, a steal. 3.6pH. 97/100

-- Parker: The 2020 Clos Fourtet is a blend of 90% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc, harvested from 15th to 30th September and weighing in with an alcohol of 14.5% and a pH of 3.6. It is being aged for 14-18 months in 50% new oak barrels, 48% second-fill barrels and 2% amphora. Deep garnet-purple in color, it comes bounding out of the glass with ripe, expressive notes of crushed black plums, juicy black berries and black cherry preserves, followed by hints of ground cloves, cinnamon stick, camphor and cedar chest. The medium to full-bodied palate is jam-packed with bright, vivacious black fruits, framed by velvety tannins and bags of freshness, finishing with great length. 96-98/100

Im zweiten Ansatz Veilchenduft, Lakritze und Milchschokolade. Am vielschichtigen Gaumen mit einer Textur wie Samt und Seide, perfekt ausgereiftes Tanningerüst, tänzerische Rasse und perfekt geformter Körper. Im aromatischen nicht enden wollenden Finale eine Explosion mit blauen und schwarzen Beeren, tiefschürfende dunkle Mineralik und königliche Adstringenz. Großartige Trilogie! Kaufen! 96-98/100

-- Gerstl: Im Duft hält er sich eher zurück, aber da steckt einiges drin, alles ist nur ganz fein angetönt, die Eleganz steht im Mittelpunkt, das ist sagenhaft raffiniert. Am Gaumen ist pure Feinheit, fruchtbetont aber auf überaus charmante Art, die festen Tannine verleihen eine noble Strenge, jetzt kommt ein Hauch Rustikalität ins Spiel, da sind ein paar Ecken und Kanten, die im Monent nicht ganz ins edle Gesamtbild passen wollen, aber der Wein hat Potenzial, der Ausbau wird ihn noch verfeinern. 19/20
