Ud over vinmarken Monvigliero i Verduno er vinmarken Ravera i Novello, lige over for Elvio Cognos vingård, en af de vinmarker, der producerer den mest charmerende og forførende Barolo. Næsen er overdådigt blomstret og velduftende, som om en massiv buket roser blev holdt lige op i ansigtet på mig. Men Scavino skjuler en mineralsk ligefremhed nedenunder. Salt, krydret, jernrig mineralitet med saftige kirsebær og jordbær. Sammenlignet med 2019 fra Cogno eller 2019 fra Vajras har vi en vin, der trods sin overdådighed i næsen for tiden er behersket og struktureret i munden. Det er, som om vinen tager tilløb til at eksplodere som en regn af konfetti på tungen om fire til fem år, dvs. fra 2028. Jeg er allerede begejstret i dag! En stor vin. 96/100

Den magiske 2019-årgang triumferer i Piemonte som en yderst aromatisk, perfekt afbalanceret version af den legendariske 2016. With fruit from the village of Novello, this wine is more articulate and shows clearer aromas compared to some of the other Barolos in this set of new releases. The Paolo Scavino 2019 Barolo Ravera takes a little extra time to come into focus. There is dark fruit, dried cherry, spice and some light tarry smoke. With time, the wine begins to show more complexity and nuance. Some 8,200 bottles were made. 95/100

The 2019 Barolo Ravera is a striking, vivid wine. Crushed rose petal, mint, orange peel and white pepper lend an exotic flair. Tightly-wound and nervy, but with notable depth, the 2019 is classic Ravera through and though. I would give it a few years to soften, as the acids and tannins are both very youthfully vibrant. Clean mineral notes frame the intensely saline, taut finish. 95/100

Compact, concise and spiced with berries, warm herbs, forest floor and crushed black pepper aromas. Medium- to full-bodied with fine, firm tannins and crisp acidity. Vivid and crunchy with succulent small berries and sour cherries. It has a transparent character to it at the core and a racy finish with good length. Try after 2028.

Aromatically more expressive and ripe with red flowers and fruits, the 2019 Barolo Ravera is more exuberant and open at this stage, with candied cherry, menthol, and sweet balsamic herbs. The palate takes a more savory and coiled stance at this youthful stage, with iron-rich earth, grenadine, and salted orange. Building tannins are in concert with a persistent spine of acidity that will need time to loosen its grip, but this is a fantastic wine to hold and drink 2026-2046. 95/100
