Heiner Lobenberg om:
Chateau Haut Batailley 5eme Cru 2025

Sikke en tæt, indtagende, endda forførende næse af krydret cassis, hyldebær og sorte kirsebær med elegante ristede smagsnuancer. Espresso, kakao.

Medium- to full-bodied with well-placed tannins, a savory element and firm yet fine-grained tannins that add definition. Juicy and precise finish.

Neal Martin om: Chateau Haut Batailley 5eme Cru

The 2025 Haut-Batailley was picked between September 8 and 18, matured in 55% new oak. This has a more intense, bolder nose than the Verso, graphite-infused black fruit that is Pauillac through and through. Razor-sharp. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, but there is gentle and insistent grip. Sapid, an Haut Batailley that evokes images of the Gironde Estuary, this is a marvellous contribution to the vintage, perhaps the best under Jean-Charles Cazes.

Jeb Dunnuck om: Chateau Haut Batailley 5eme Cru

Graphite, lead pencil, and a beautiful core of red and black fruits all emerge from the 2025 Château Haut-Batailley, and this beauty showed consistently both times I was able to taste it. Medium to full-bodied, it has nicely integrated oak, a sunny, ripe, layered mouthfeel, and outstanding length. Based on 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot, I love its overall balance and sheer charm, as well as its classic Pauillac style.

Galloni om: Chateau Haut Batailley 5eme Cru

The 2025 Haut-Batailley is a brooding young Pauillac with a bright future. Dark and brooding, with tons of vertical energy, Haut-Batailley is quite the powerhouse. Black fruit, leather, incense, licorice, dried herbs and mocha are some of the many aromas and flavors that gradually open in the glass. Readers will have to be quite patient, as the tannins are rather imposing, but there's more than enough fruit density to balance things out.

Colin Hay om: Chateau Haut Batailley 5eme Cru

(Pauillac; 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot; a final yield of 30 hl/ha; pH 3.60; IPT 82; 13.5% ABV; tasted at the UGCB press tasting at the Cité du Vin and then at Lynch-Bages). There's a lovely natural sweetness to this, evident aromatically; there's also a very classical Pauillac dose of cedar that intemingles so beautifully and beguilingly with the wild herbal notes and the dark berry fruits – mulberry and blackberry with a little loganberry perhaps too (with more of the latter on the palate). Soft and caressing, this exudes harmony. It has a radiant plungepool core, is luminous and crystalline and almost shimmering in its clarity. Excellent.
