Heiner Lobenberg om:
Chateau Cantemerle 5eme Cru 2025

Captures the austerity that you expect and want during En Primeur, wet stones and graphite, plenty of elegance and balance, measured acidities that give Left Bank typicity, a ton of ageing potential and curls of gunsmoke and flowers. Very pretty, very enjoyable, impressive. Yield 32 hl/ha. 35% new oak. First vintage in new cellars.

Alexandre Ma om: Chateau Cantemerle 5eme Cru

With the completion of its new winery, Château Cantemerle in 2025 steps into a new phase on its journey toward Grand Vin. The entry is remarkably refreshing, where delicate, juicy berries unfold alongside a light touch of violet. The expression is clearly layered, with the strength of the warm vintage held toward the back of the palate. There is a beautiful sense of progression, from light to depth, from softness to strength, much like morning sunlight touching the skin, its warmth slowly gathering as the scene comes into focus. Château Cantemerle 2025 delivers an impressive performance, and even before finishing the glass, I find myself already anticipating how it will evolve after five years of aging.

Colin Hay om: Chateau Cantemerle 5eme Cru

(Haut-Médoc; 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot; a final yield of 42 hl/ha; 13% ABV; tasted twice, the second time at the UGCB press tasting at the Cité du Vin; another wine sporting a rather stylish new label). Lovely aromatically with a gentle florality that might have you placing this across the appellation boundary to the north in Margaux. It's soft, caressing, succulent and shapely, evolving graciously over the palate. The plump berry and damson fruit is divine. There's also more substance, depth, layering and concentration than in recent vintages and perhaps a little greater precision too – though I have always been a fan of Cantemerle. This is recognisably Cantemerle, but achieves a degree of refinement I've not witnessed before. Closer in quality and even style to La Lagune than ever before.
