Vinho Tinto 2021

The serious and austere 2020 Tinto is classical, balanced and harmonious with the freshness of the Chocapalha wines. It comes from a blend looking for those characteristics, and it matured in well-seasoned, neutral barrels to respect the purity of the wine. It was a little closed and took time to open up in the glass, delivering an elegant nuanced and serious wine. It is 35% Touriga Nacional, 25% Tinta Roriz, 25% Castelão, 8% Alicante Bouschet and 7% Touriga Franca. It has 13.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.49 and 6.15 grams of acidity. It's medium-bodied and balanced, classical with elegant tannins. It's evolving at a slow pace. It's an incredible value. 25,800 bottles produced. It was bottled in July 2024.

Tim Atkin om: Vinho Tinto

Blending five different grape varieties sourced from vineyards with varying soils and exposures, this wine captures the essence of its origins. Fermented in stainless steel and lagares before ageing for 16 months in neutral used barrels, it opens with appealing reductive notes followed by violet aromas and vibrant red berries. Plush yet energetic, it offers a touch of salinity that lifts the structure and results in an expressive and delicious red wine.
