85 procent Merlot, ti procent Cabernet Franc og fem procent Cabernet Sauvignon. Alkoholindholdet er 14,5 volumenprocent. Ultrafin, harmonisk, poleret næse med superbløde tanniner. Stor friskhed i munden! Vidunderlig rød frugt med masser af tryk og masser af salt. Det passer godt! Ikke en særlig stor vin, men en fin, harmonisk vin med utrolig friskhed, næsten knivskarpe tranebær, røde hindbær og salt. Dansende og elegant! Ekstremt god succes - bedste Villemaurine nogensinde. 97100 *** Slottet tilhører de samme ejere som Soutard Cadet, Moulin du Cadet og Sansonnet. Fire vingårde, alle mellem tre og syv hektar store. Beliggende i det umiddelbare nabolag på det rene kalkstensplateau. Den ønologiske konsulent her er Hubert de Boüard fra Angélus. De nuværende ejere, familien Lefévère, købte først Villemaurine i marts 2021 - perfekt terroir. Den tidligere belgiske ejer ønskede at sælge, og da vingården ligger i umiddelbar nærhed af familiens andre ejendomme, købte Lefévères den.

2022 vil gå over i historien som en fremragende årgang med hensyn til kvalitet. Og det på trods af, at det var den tørreste sommer i Frankrig, siden man begyndte at registrere den, og det varmeste år i det hele taget siden 1947.

A blend of 76% Merlot and 24% Cabernet Franc, the 2022 Château Villemaurine is killer stuff, offering black raspberries, black cherries, violets, floral notes, and chalky minerality. Full-bodied, pure, deep, and seamless, it’s layered and rich yet incredibly balanced, with fine tannins and an elegant mouthfeel. Huge minerality and a liquid rock-like character make this a stunning effort. Aged for 16 months in 70% new and 30% one-year-old barrels, it’s going to evolve gracefully for 30+ years. Total production: 3,000 cases.

Plenty of blue fruits such as currants with cherries, berries, some fresh herbs and limestone. Medium- to full-bodied, this has chewy tannins and a savory finish with energy at the end, firm and slightly austere in a very good way. Limestone character coming through. Drink after 2028 and beyond.

Expressive, Fragrant, Blue Fruit, Violets, Baking Spices, Blueberries, Full bodied, Refreshing Acidity, Subtle Oak, Velvety Texture, High Tannin, Needs Time. The 2022 Villemaurine, 76% Merlot and 24% Cabernet Franc, is very deep purple black in color. It has a wonderfully fragrant nose of candied violets, cinnamon, cloves, and Sichuan pepper with a powerful core of blueberry pie and black cherries. The full-bodied palate is dense and muscular, with black and blue fruit layers supported by a refreshing backbone and soft tannins, finishing with an exotic spice lift.

The chalky limestone soil characteristic of this high-altitude region adds an air of mystery, as if it were outlining a scene of a giant dragon awakening in the glass. I must loudly praise the performance of Château Villemaurine 2022, which can easily match that of a Première B. I look forward to its even more stunning performance after several years of aging.

The 2022 Villemaurine is just as impressive as it was en primeur. Blood orange, jammy red fruit, cedar, tobacco and scorched earth infuse the 2022 with notable complexity. Brisk acids pull it all together as floral notes extend the pliant, beautifully resonant finish. This powerhouse Saint-Émilion delivers the goods. Tasted two times.
