Tørre Sauternes er på vej frem, den hvide Y fra Yquem har vist vejen. Og den tørre Suduiraut fra de ældste vinstokke er en seriøs udfordrer med sin kompleksitet, mineralitet og ekspressivitet. Stor spænding og energi her, næsten stor og med sin koncentration på semillon en stor forandring fra alle sauvignonerne i den sydlige del af Bordeaux.

Crushed citrus, mint, crushed stone, and white flower nuances all define the aromatics of the 2025 Château Suduiraut Vieilles Vignes, which is a blend of 66% Sémillon and 34% Sauvignon Blanc that's resting in 14% new barrels with the balance in once-used oak. It's medium-bodied on the palate, with a pure, focused mouthfeel, beautiful purity, flawless balance, and an incredibly seamless style. This has 13.7% alcohol with a pH of 3.39

Clearly more luscious than its sibling wine Lions de Suduiraut, sets out its stall with depth and tension, apricot, nectarine, white mango, quince. This is selected from the same terroir as the main Suduiraut wine. 14% new oak for ageing, 3.39pH.

Like all the whites this year at Suduiraut, the 2025 Grand Vin Blanc Sec Vieilles Vignes has more Sémillon in the blend. It offers a striking mix of Sémillon richness and vibrant energy that is impossible to miss. I especially admire the wine's tension. Pear, dried lemon peel, chalk, mint and dried flowers build into the intense, saline-drenched finish. What a wine. Élevage will be nine months in French oak, 14% new.
