Heiner Lobenberg om:
Chateau Poujeaux 2025

93–94
/100

Textural, balanced and focused with currants and wild herbs on the nose. Medium-bodied with fine, firm tannins. Well-built with a dense core of red berries and a compact finish with length. Attractive spice undertones.

Alexandre Ma om: Chateau Poujeaux

From the very first impression on the nose, Château Poujeaux 2025 shows an unusual sense of openness, with a natural ease that unfolds from within. A gentle swirl brings a burst of roses into bloom, followed by the fresh, lively scent of vine-picked strawberries reaching out. On entry, everything turns strikingly bright, as if a light were rising from the base of the glass, illuminating the wine from within. Most captivating of all, within its already generous body lies a delicate touch of sweetness, guiding the palate forward into a cool, almost chilled floral infusion.

Jane Anson om: Chateau Poujeaux

Deep plum colour, vivid with bright reflections, has the fresh acidities of the vintage balanced out by rich deep fruits, toasted spice, floral fragrance and austere tannins that speaks of ageing ability. Derenoncourt Consulting. Philippe and Mathieu Cuvelier owners. 3.72 pH. Harvest September 11 to 23. 25% new oak.

Neal Martin om: Chateau Poujeaux

The 2025 Poujeaux, which has a little more Cabernet Sauvignon, was cropped at 27 hl/ha. It has a well-defined bouquet with black fruit tinged with freshly shucked oyster shell. Classical in style, honed and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with quite rounded, malleable tannins. Fine acidity, black fruit in the driving seat, with more red fruit emerging towards the refined finish. This is a superb Moulis that will age for many years.

Galloni om: Chateau Poujeaux

The 2025 Poujeaux is fabulous. Right out of the gate, it offers superb fruit intensity and plenty of structure to match. Dark blue and black-toned fruit, grilled herbs, menthol, lavender and licorice infuse the palate with tremendous depth. Broad swaths of tannin add to an impression of somber intensity. Yields were just 27 hectoliters per hectare. That, along with a higher percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon vis-à-vis most years, has resulted in an especially potent Poujeaux. Tasted two times.
