I am amazed by the freshness and blue fruits here in such a hot year. So much crunchy forest-fruit character like strawberries and raspberries with fantastic peaches and orange peel. Black olives and cloves. Full-bodied yet framed and formed with extremely silky tannins and great beauty. Superbalanced and incredible for the vintage. The ethereal quality of this wine is truly wonderful. Best after 2029.

Parker om: Chateau Petrus

The 2022 Pétrus has turned out even better than I anticipated en primeur, displaying breathtaking purity and integration. Unwinding in the glass with aromas of mulberries, minty cherries, rose petals and violets, it's full-bodied, dense and layered, with huge depth at the core, sweet, powdery tannins and a long, resonant finish. This is a profound Pétrus in the making that exemplifies controlled power. Olivier Berrouet opted to shorten the time in barrel by a couple of months to preserve vibrancy.

The Wine Palate om: Chateau Petrus

Powerful, Bold, Blue Fruit, Violets, Licorice, Chinese Five Spice, Full bodied, Refreshing Acidity, Subtle Oak, Velvety Texture, High Tannin, Needs Time. Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2022 Petrus erupts from the glass with powerful scents of plum preserves, fresh blueberries, and blackberry pie, leading to a fragrant underlying perfume of candied violets, licorice, Indian spices, and rose bud tea, plus a touch of blood orange. The big, rich, full-bodied palate delivers a vortex of energetic black and blue fruits mingled with exotic spices and amazing tension, wrapped in super firm, wonderfully velvety/chalky tannins, finishing very long and minerally—ferrous and fruity at the same time. Legendary juice.

Jeff Leve om: Chateau Petrus

Violets, lilacs, roses and jasmine are in full-force before finding all the red, and black pit fruits. On the palate, it is the striking vibrancy, and intense concentration that is the story here. The purity in the fruits, depth of flavor, chalky tannins and endless waves of black and blue fruit stay put on your palate for at lest 60 seconds. This is a unique style of Petrus which blends intensity and vibrancy with a purity of fruit and touches of chocolate . There is nothing out of place. The wine is perfectly balanced, seamless, and well, prefect. The success of the vintage is due in large part to waiting for the right moment to pick. With their deep, blue clay, they harvested September 1 - September 7, 14.5 ABV%, 3.63 pH. Yields were 20 hectoliters per hectare. Drink from 2030-2065. 98-100/100

Revue du Vin de France om: Chateau Petrus

The analysis of Petrus 2022 shows its close ressemblance to the 2020 and this is also the case when tasted, although it is a bit more reserved at this stage. Very deep, this is a comprehensive wine whose majestic tannic structure seems well hidden beneath the flesh. All is in place and nothing seems violent. The yields were very low at 20 hectolitres per hectare and Olivier Berrouet says that maceration time was extended but pumping-over reduced. Substance and flavours are in perfect harmony, featuring dark fruit with, at the centre, the hot sun of the vintage combined with the acidity needed to give this vibration. 97-100/100

Jeb Dunnuck om: Chateau Petrus

The 2022 Château Petrus showed brilliantly and is clearly in the top handful of wines in the vintage. The usual 100% Merlot and harvested between the 1st and 7th of September, it checks in as 13.5% alcohol with a pH of 3.63. Deep purple-hued, with a tight yet layered nose of darker cherries, cassis, spring flowers, violets, and perfectly integrated oak, it's full-bodied and has the vintage's pure, concentrated, powerful style, gorgeous tannins, and that classic, salty, mouthwatering finish of this château. It opens up beautifully with time in the glass, and given its purity and tannin quality, it's going to offer some up-front appeal yet have 50 years of longevity. I suspect it will take 10-12 years to hit the early stages of its prime drink window. 97-100/100

Min vinmager

Petrus
