Dyb rød i glasset. Wow, det er udtryksfuldt i glasset! Surkirsebær, syrlige kirsebær plus lidt jordbærtarteletter. Ekstremt elektrificerende, kraftfuld og alligevel meget charmerende. Meget flydende i munden. De friske frugtsmage træder frem igen. Teksturen er meget fin med beherskede tanniner. Meget slank, især for en St-Estephe. Legesyg og let at drikke. Men det er her, vinens storhed går lidt tabt.

Årsrapporten

2025 vil helt sikkert indtage sin plads blandt de bedste Bordeaux-årgange nogensinde – sammen med 2009, 2016 og 2022 – og er samtidig en af de mest afbalancerede og harmoniske årgange overhovedet. OG den er meget tidligt drikkeklar og charmerende. Sådan skal det være!

The 2025 Meyney is packed with blue/purplish fruit, lavender, dried herbs, menthol and crushed flowers. Ample, broad and quite powerful, the 2025 builds beautifully with time in the glass. I can’t remember tasting a Meyney with this much sheer purity in its fruit. Impressive.

Remarkable. Even at such a young stage, its beauty is impossible to conceal. The distinctive vibrancy of Saint-Estèphe in 2025 lends Château Meyney a sense of clarity and brightness. Bayberry juice and blackcurrant intertwine to create a fruit profile that is both sweet and concentrated, followed by notes of licorice candy and violet that add a playful touch. The finely grained tannins, characteristic of Terrasse 4, form an inner framework within the wine, supporting its structure while extending the length of the tasting experience. After 5-10 years of barrel aging, it must be truffled.

Black currants, smoke, tobacco, mint, flowers, and cassis create the aromatics. The palate completes the theme with its lush, creamy, vibrant, black currant, espresso, and licorice packed mid-palate, and fruity, energetic finish. Drink from 2029-2050.

Colin Hay om: Chateau Meyney Cru Bourgeois

(Saint-Estèphe; 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 14% Petit Verdot; a final yield of 43 hl/ha; pH 3.75; 13% ABV). I've often found this in the past to be a little stolid, quite long in the extraction, and lacking in delineation and definition in and through the mid-palate as a consequence. But the last handful of vintages have really seen this resolved. The purity of, and resulting lift from, the damson, blueberry, bramble and blackberry fruit is beautifully beguiling in this vintage, as is the cedar in which that fruit seems so generously enrobed. Really lovely and very much flattered by the vintage (and how it's been managed).
