2025-blandingen består af 69 procent Merlot og 31 procent Cabernet Franc. Udbyttet var 39 hektoliter pr. hektar. 13,5 procent alkohol i volumen. Modnet i 16 måneder på barriques, 55 procent nyt træ. Vinen har en mørk rubinrød farve, slet ikke så sort, som jeg havde forventet. Næsen er superfin og velduftende! Hindbær, jordbær, søde røde kirsebær og sure kirsebær - det hele går mod rødt. Og med en så høj andel af Merlot er det ret fantastisk! Cabernet Franc er den absolut dominerende, alt er superfint og poleret. Ingen grove tanniner selv i næsen, men masser af kalkstenspåvirkning. Et kridtholdigt slør med utrolig finesse ... Fantastisk elegant og burgundisk! Men mere som en fin Gevrey-Chambertin end en livlig Vosne-Romanée. Fin og poleret ... Frisk rød frugt i munden ved det første angreb. Skovjordbær med den højere syre, plus hindbær, ribs og surkirsebær. Men alt er fint, intet er aggressivt, men ekstremt fint sammenvævet. Virkelig utrolig velsmagende og spændende! Levende, men på en silkeagtig måde. Surkirsebær med solbær og skovjordbær bliver ved med at rulle op. Hvor fanden er de sorte frugter nu? På en eller anden måde slet ikke til stede: ingen brombær, ingen solbær, alt er rødt, men alt er totalt chikt! Den er langsomt ved at blive til Chambolle-Musigny. Utrolig lækker, luftig, dansende, utrolig intens og samtidig uendelig fin ... Den smarteste Bourgogne møder den smarteste Loire! Det nye træ mærkes slet ikke, kun den enorme, syngende, levende frugt. Rød, elegant og lang ... Så meget elegance, så meget dybde - dette er stor biograf på et absolut verdensklasseniveau. Méo-Camuzet møder Clos Rougeard. En drømmeagtig skønhed! *** Beauséjour Duffau består af blot 6,8 hektar vinmarker med vinstokke, der i gennemsnit er 55-60 år gamle. Mellem 6.300 og 8.900 planter pr. hektar tæt beplantet, lavt udbytte pr. vinstok. 40 procent kalksten (første vin 80 procent) og 50 procent ler over kalksten. Plus ti procent ren lerjord. Arbejdet er økologisk. Vinmarken ligger på toppen af plateauet - fantastisk terroir! Beauséjour Duffau er omgivet af crème de la crème i Saint-Émilion: Ausone og Canon til den ene side, Angélus mod syd, Coutet og Beau-Séjour Bécot ikke langt mod vest og øst. Alle de store navne er deroppe.

Smoky depths, crushed rocks, wet stones, pumice, just delicious and gets better and better the longer it spends in the glass. This is a limestone masterclass, so precise, so tense in a carved and momentum-filled way. Saffron, blueberry, crushed raspberry, wet stones, rose petals, chalk. Feel really energised from tasting it, totally harnessing the power of the year without being overtaken by it. Harvest September 8 to 19. 55% new oak for ageing.

(Saint-Émilion; 69% Merlot; 31% Cabernet Franc; a final yield of 39 hl/ha; pH 3.39; 13.5% alcohol; tasted with Joséphine Duffau-Lagarrosse and Tokaji, of course, at Beauséjour). We've left the best until last. To my, of course, highly-subjective taste, this is all and more than I could ever wish for from a St Emilion on limestone in any vintage. It's brilliant. It's floral, first and foremost, with peony, rose petal, violet and a little haunting iris note that builds in the glass. We find loganberry, blueberry and black berry, a little thyme, maybe just the very slightest hint of rosemary. Graphite, not cedar. Once again this is such an eloquent and articulate expression of its terroir, structured and chisseled - almost carved out of the rock - by its limestone chalky powdery tannins. That renders it perhaps the purest wine of the appellation in this vintage. Oyster shell notes seem to be released by the touch of the tannins. Sumptuous and so delicate on the attack. We taste this next to the new wine-making facility and I am struck by the thought that this could only have been made here, such is its precision. Shimmering, radiant and exuberant. A magical wine and the best way to end our primeur journey. A technical note: one of the things that is so crucial to the quality of this wine is the incredibly precise work between Axel Marchal and Joséphine Duffau Lagarrosse in the matching of the separately vinified parcels to the wood.

The aromatic profile serves up its display of flowers, plums, and chocolate, with a touch of orange rind, with ease. The palate is where the wine shines. Silky, lifted, elegant, vibrant, and with marine influences, the fruits express a beautiful purity that comes through due to their sweet, fresh, and lively character. There is body, concentration, depth of flavor, refinement, and energy that are immediately noticeable. The finish is long, complex, and expansive, allowing the wine to linger gracefully. The wine blends 69% Merlot with 31% Cabernet Franc, 13.9% ABV, 3.39 pH. Yields were 39 hectoliters per hectare. The harvest took place September 5 - September 19. Drink from 2030 - 2060.

The 2025 Château Beauséjour (Duffau-Lagarrosse) is a deep ruby-hued Saint-Emilion Premier Grand Cru Classé harvested between September 5th and 19th from healthy yields of 39 hectoliters per hectare. It has a gorgeous perfume of cassis and black cherries intermixed with beautiful floral nuances of rose and violets, graphite, and crushed stone-like minerality. On the palate, it has incredible purity, perfect ripeness, ripe yet building tannins, and a great finish. Hitting 13.7% alcohol with a pH of 3.39, it shows the vintage's juicy, fresher style yet brings gorgeous mid-palate depth and length.
