Tæt Grenache med rige hindbær, søde kirsebær og eksotiske smagsnuancer, rigt krydderi fra rosiner, kraft fra gamle vinstokke, meget tæt for Greanche. Coll-klima og lidt grøn, skifer, masser af bid og friskhed. Pinot Noir, Dujac-agtig, minder om Morey St. Denis. Jordet, tæt, masser af spænding, dominerende kirsebær, usædvanligt for Grenache. Tilsætningen af hvide druer gør en Rioja til en slags Cote Rotie. En selvstændig vin med storhed, den ønsker ikke at være alles darling. Vidunderligt anderledes.

Den enestående årgang 2022 betragtes i Spanien som en historisk milepæl. På trods af rekordvarme imponerer vinene takket være kølige sommernætter med forbløffende lave pH-værdier, spektakulær syrefreshhed og silkeagtige tanniner – en storslået, perfekt afbalanceret tæthed på højde med den store Bordeaux-årgang.

Parker om: Carra Sto Domingo

The single-vineyard red 2022 Carra Sto Domingo has kept its poise and floral elegance despite the warmer year and the riper fruit. This year, the wine comes in at 14.6% alcohol, but it's nicely disguised and still comes through as an elegant and balanced medium-bodied red with a fine texture and very fine tannins. It does not reach the level of the stunning 2021, but I think it's a triumph over the adverse conditions of the year. The vineyard was planted in the 1920s to make clarete, with 60% red grapes and 40% white ones, and the vines are suffering the climate change. It matured in used 600-liter barrels for 11 months and a further four months in concrete egg. 900 bottles were filled in April 2024.

Suckling om: Carra Sto Domingo

A minerally red with generous tannins, but it is still transparent, taut and tense. Cranberries, cloves, wet stones and juicy plums. Chalky tannins throughout. 70% red grapes, mostly garnacha, and the rest white. Around 20% stems. Only 964 bottles made. Drink now.

Carra Santa Domingo is a vineyard that always retains zip and freshness, even in a vintage like 2022 where the resulting wine has 14.3% alcohol. Based on Garnacha with 15% Tempranillo and 35% white grapes, it has plum, strawberry and red cherry flavours, a rose petal top note, savoury tannins and a mineral core.
