Marko Terlegiz
All the Izkiota Txikia (Petit Manseng) from 2025 went to the 2025 Terlegiz, which is a blend of the four white varieties, Hondarribi Zuri Zerratia, Hondarribi Zuri, Izkiriota Txikia and Izkiriota Handia, taken from the stonier, shallower soils, which deliver more mineral wines. The juice from the pressing of the full clusters fermented in stainless steel and finished in used 600-liter oak barrels and Austrian foudres, where it matured for six to seven months with the lees. It smells of flowers and freshly cut grass, hay and straw, the smell of the countryside in the spring, with some smoky undertones. There's volume from the low yields and the malolactic, and the soils make for very mineral wines. The salinity comes from both the soils and the sea breeze, as the sea is only four kilometers away. There's precision and clarity, and it's more serious, perhaps a little more austere, but it's not shy. It has 13.5% alcohol and a textured and sleek palate, with freshness, balance and pungent flavors. At times, it has some citrus and reminds me of a Chenin, a reflection of the green landscape. 3,600 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2026. He didn't produce it in 2024.
