-- Parker: The NV Malvasia 40 Years Old Vinho do Reitor was produced with grapes from São Jorge that were foot trodden in lagar and matured in Barbeito's cellar and dedicated to Ângelo Augusto da Silva, an early 20th-century teacher. It has amazing elegance and complexity, with notes of peat, iodine, lanolin and the usual nuts, brandy, caramelized fruit and honey. It has a very solid, balanced palate, long and pungent with freshness and persistence. It has 19.6% alcohol, with 94 grams of sugar, 9.4 grams of acidity, 1.32 grams of volatile acidity and a pH of 3.26. 717 bottles were filled in August 2018.
