Wie immer burgundische Nase, das zeichnet den Chevalier aus. Unfassbar viel elegante Kirsche. Herzkirsche, Schwarzkirsche mit leicht erdigen Nuancen. Schöne Süße in der Nase. Auch im Mund diese Burgunder-Eigenschaft mit Kirschvariationen. Darunter konzentrierte Waldhimbeere, etwas vegetale Noten, ein Hauch von grüner Paprika, aber nicht unreif. Das satte, wirklich final ganz süße Fleisch fehlt ihm noch um perfekt zu sein, dennoch wirklich schön. Gut abgeschliffene Tannine und mittlere Länge. Macht Spaß, ohne ganz groß zu sein. Dennoch ein Beispiel für einen wirklich tollen Erfolg in diesem doch nicht ganz so einfachen Jahrgang.

Made from an unusual blend for this great estate, the 2013 Domaine de Chevalier is composed of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot (no Petit Verdot), and the total production was less than half of normal. The wine achieved 13% natural alcohol, but yields were frightfully low. The result is an outstanding effort in this frequently disappointing, average quality vintage. The wine possesses a deep plum/ruby color as well as a sweet bouquet of incense, charcoal, red and black currants, and loamy soil. Medium-bodied with good texture, depth and purity, sweet tannins, and present but unobtrusive acidity, it should drink nicely for 12-15 years. Once again, it proves that Domaine de Chevalier often accomplishes impressive things in so-called “off” vintages.

This is excellent. Blueberry, black currant and stone aromas and flavors. Medium body, lovely density, fine tannins and a bright finish. A triumph for the vintage. Drink or hold.

Decanter über: Domaine de Chevalier rouge

There's unexpected opulence on the nose, with its robustly fruity blackcurrant aromas, although the wine's density was apparent from the start of its life. Rich and rounded, it shows ample fruit but also a slight hollowness and fluidity. But it's not green or extracted, and the finish is firm, with good grip and length.

Graphite, smoke, plums and violets meld together in the 2013 Domaine de Chevalier. One of the most impressive wines of the year, the 2013 stands out for its energy, delineation and brilliant textural balance. With a little time i the glass, the 2013 opens up beautifully, showing off its multi-faceted personality. What a gorgeous wine this is. Violets, sage and new leather add the final layers of complexity to what is easily one of the wines of the vintage. The 2013 has been striking the three times I have tasted it.
