Sehr rassige, hochpräzise Nase, ein vibrierendes Spiel aus schwarzer und roter Frucht. Schwarze Kirsche, Schattenmorelle, frische Zwetschge, dazu feine Brombeere und ein Hauch Orangenzeste. Ein zarter exotischer Touch verleiht Frische und Tiefe. Sehr elegante, fast burgundisch fein gezeichnete Nase, mit einem Hauch Milchschokolade und leichter Jod-/Graphitwürze. Dramatisch schön. Im Antrunk ebenso rassig wie die Nase: brillante Säure, viel mineralischer Druck, feines Salz. Schlank, tänzelnd, voller Finesse. Die Nase suggeriert mehr Volumen, doch am Gaumen geht der 2005er ganz klar in Richtung Feinheit, Rasse und Eleganz. Herrlich balanciert. Das Finish ist salzig, frisch und animierend – ein Wein, der sofort zurück ins Glas zieht. Ein grandioser Erfolg aus einem großartigen Jahrgang.

A ripe vanillary nose with black cherries, cassis and violets. Good definition. Very elegant and sinewy on the palate with good weight. Very disjointed at the moment but I think everything is balanced and will taste much better after barrel maturation. Very fine.

Sattes Purpur-Granat, dicht in der Mitte, lila Schimmer aussen. Intensives Bouquet, Pflaumenmark, gedörrte Birnen, Vanille, schwarze Oliven, dunkle Schokolade, gibt sich tiefgründig mit klassischem Pauillac- Cassis. Im Gaumen sublim, die Tannine sind rund und geschmeidig, der Wein selbst ist ellenlang mit noblem Ausklang. Hat viel von den ganz grossen Pauillacs in sich, ausser bei seinem Preis – also lohnt es sich, nach diesem Wein zu suchen!

The 2005 Haut-Bages-Libéral comes from an era when biodynamics were being introduced into the vineyard. This has a delightful bouquet, fresh and delineated with pure brambly red fruit and traces of orange zest and iodine. The palate is well balanced with sappy black fruit, quite sinewy at first, but a lovely salinity defines a finish that beckons you back for more. Excellent. Tasted at the château.

Während des 18. Jahrhunderts pflanzte die Weinhandels-Familie „Libéral“ Weinreben auf den Hügeln um den Ort „Bages“. So erklärt sich der Name. 1982 wurde das Château Haut Bages Libéral an die Besitzer von Château Chasse-Spleen in Moulis verkauft.
