Lobenberg: 6 ha im Besitz von Hubert de Boüard, das Château liegt schräg gegenüber seines Top-Weinguts Angélus. Alter Rebbestand. Nur 20.000 Flaschen werden erzeugt. Fast reinsortiger Merlot mit etwas Cabernet Franc. Seit 2018 jagt ein Rekord den nächsten, das Weingut hat sich enorm entwickelt. 2020 kommt mit einer wahnsinnig reifen, aber nicht überreifen Schwarzkirsch-Nase, sehr reich und mit viel Lakritz dahinter. Wow! Grafit und Minze. Sanfter, superweicher, eher opulenter Druck. Schon die Nase sexy. Der Mund ist sehr definiert. Auch komplett auf schwarzer Frucht laufend. Schwarze Kirsche, leichte Schärfe, Pimentpfeffer und schwarzer Pfeffer. Viel Salz. Die Schärfe zieht sich durch in den Nachhall. Hohe Mineralität. Die schwarze Frucht ist fein, wenngleich sehr aromatisch präsent. Die Tannine sind seidig und geschliffen, trotzdem hat der Wein Grip und ist durchaus anspruchsvoll. Extremer Geradeauslauf. Toller Saint-Émilion. Wenn der Preis passt, dann macht das Spaß. Wie schon die zwei Jahre davor.

-- Suckling: Plenty of fruit and depth with blackberry, iodine, salt and violets on both the nose and palate. It’s full and finely tannined with serious intensity. 94-95/100

-- Forbes: This 100% Merlot grows over clay limestone soils adjacent to Château Ángelus and includes rich and supple aromas of cherries and cassis. The mid palate is fresh with juicy and vibrant acidity and firm, though low-key tannins. Versatile for food pairing. 96/100

-- Wine Cellar Insider: Flowers, black plums, cherries, licorice, wet earth and cigar box aromas create the beautiful nose. On the palate the wine is medium/full-bodied, soft, silky, fresh, sweet and polished. There is a gorgeous sense of purity to the fruit, opulence on the palate and in the finish that really works here. The wine is produced from 100% old vine Merlot. 94-96

Jane Anson über: Chateau Bellevue Grand Cru Classe

-- Jane Anson: Good stuff, a lovely wine with powerful but supple tannic architecture. As is so often the case with Bellevue, it reveals a side of delicate, floral almost austere side of Merlot that is atypical to the grape but a perfect reflection of the cool 6.82ha clay-limestone slopes - think blueberries and slate, unshowy but with staying power. Owned by de Bouard family and the de Lavau family. Benjamin de Laforest winemaker. Interestingly, the family chose to keep this wine within the St Emilion ranking, so it remains Grand Cru Classé, unlike sibling estate Château Angélus. 33hl/ha yield.

Decanter über: Chateau Bellevue Grand Cru Classe

-- Decanter: A rich slick stripe of damson and smoked oak, but things close down pretty quickly on the palate. There are fine but tight tannins here, with a sweep of acidity traveling fast and swift through the palate, until the whole thing expands and softens after a minute in the glass. Great delicacy, power and depth, you would almost think there is Cabernet Franc in here because of its verticality, and beautifully rough slate texture on the finish. I love it. A yield of 33hl/ha.

Gerstl über: Chateau Bellevue Grand Cru Classe

-- Gerstl: 100% Merlot. Expressive Merlotfrucht mit sehr viel roter Frucht nach Johannisbeere, Erdbeere und Himbeere dazu viel schwarze Kirsche. Hier zeigt sich einmal mehr die perfekte Reife des Jahrgangs bei optimalem Terroir. Frische und Frucht im Wechselspiel, was den Wein zum Hineintauchen delikat erscheinen lässt. Beim Antrunk kommt sofort ein sinnliche Extraktsüsse und die fulminante Frucht zu Geltung. Das ist ein herrlich saftiges Elexiert, welches wir hier im Glas haben. Die Gerbstoffe sind präsent aber sehr zart und cremig, was eine wunderbare Harmonie ergibt. Das ist einfach purer Genuss. Pirmin Bilger 18+/20
