Heiner Lobenberg über:
Le Rosé 2023

98
/100

Luis Gutierez, Parkers Mann für Spanien, fasst den Jahrgang 2023 anhand von Alvaro Palacios Weingütern ganz im Westen und ganz im Osten, somit Landesübergreifend so zusammen: 2023 was an even more generous crop than 2022 … the wines have better balance, and it doesn't feel like a warm year at all. In fact, the wines feel more like they come from a cool year. It's a vintage that has a tendency toward reduction, not as much as 2020, but still reductive. But it's an elegant, stony reduction...The quality of the 2023s is stunning. There is a level of precision, cleanliness, symmetry and elegance that, if the end of the élevage and the bottling goes as expected, I must conclude that 2023 might be the finest vintage ... There might be other individual wines that reach higher peaks, but as an overall portfolio, the vintage 2023 represents the strongest collection ever produced.

Jeb Dunnuck über: Le Rosé

-- Jeb Dunnuck: The 2023 Le Rose is a 45%-53% Tempranillo-Albillo Mayor wine from a single parcel of old pre-phylloxera vines that grow at 3,117-feet elevation in sandy, limestone soils. It has an undeniably salty character met by fresh, medium-bodied layers of berry fruit and is light in color, made using a process familiar to Champagne, direct pressing the must whole-cluster, mixing the red and white grapes to get to the heart of the press, then allowing fermentation to happen in new 600-liter French oak barrels. The wine continued to age another 6-7 months in the same French oak. Light, bright, and crisp, few bottles are made, including in magnum. Drink now and over the next 5-7 years.

Parker über: Le Rosé

-- Parker: The 2023 Le Rosé was produced with the grapes from a plot of pre-phylloxera vines at 950 meters above sea level called Carresoto in the village of Miño de San Esteban. It's a blend of 53% Albillo and 47% Tinto Fino pressed with a Champagne press and fermented and aged in new 600-liter French oak barrels for five months. It comes in at 13.63% alcohol, with a pH of 3.38 and 5.5 grams of acidity. This is aromatic and subtle but very attractive; it's vibrant and deep, with pungent flavors and very good balance. They had frost in mid-May, later than in 2024, and that had a different effect—the cycle was short and yields were lower. 1,658 bottles and 42 magnums produced. It was bottled in May 2024.

Verkostungsnotiz

Weingut über: Le Rosé

-- Weingut: It comes from a single plot; a smooth and sunny slope from where we can see the river Duero line in the distance. The soil is fine sand, mainly limestone, and it is surrounded by crops and wild flowers. Le Rosé is made with Tinto Fino and Albillo, in equal proportions, from old ungrafted vines and organic cultivation. After the grape harvest (hand picking), the bunches are directly pressed. This rosé is delicate and fresh. It ferments and it is aged in new French oak barrels (600L).

Mein Winzer
