-- Weingut: The new 100% Sangiovese is about to be introduced to the market, after 24 months in large French oak barrels, followed by 1 year in vats and 3 years inside bottles. A long journey! But that is how we decided to control the tannins’ power and the varietal’s vigour. Though its ID shows 6 years, this wine is still a rebelious youth, which likes to be decanted and is happy to be poured into large glasses (Riedle Burgundy, for example), so that we can enjoy it in all its richness. Its colour is slightly darker than its older brothers, a sort of bright ruby with hints of orange. In the nose it is still self-contained due to its youth. But there is cocoa, tobacco, spices such as pepper, some clove and cumin, ripe cherries, and honey notes mixed with damp soil and a small woodland. In the mouth it reveals much freshness, the cherry mixed with dark chocolate and spices, very present and silky tannins and a long and refreshing finale. Conceived to last, to be “eternal”, it requires some “experience” when drunk, so as to be fully understood and enjoyed. Like all luxurious and unique goods, only with age and “experience” can we give it its true value. This Anima L14 is a real piece of jewellery, ready to allure the most demanding and extravagant consumers. Think of drinking it at the end of a meal with a Puro, any cigar from Cuba, to the sound of Buena Vista Social Club hits and the unmistakable voice of Compay Segundo.
