Malayeto Garnacha 2024

Ler, sand, sten og kalksten, vinstokkene her i over 500 meters højde må arbejde hårdt.

The 2024 Malayeto, their first single-vineyard wine they produced, is pure Garnacha from a plot of 2.39 hectares of 45-year-old vines on complex soils with limestone, gravel and stones. It fermented with indigenous yeasts in a combination of concrete and stainless steel with 10% fermented in open-top pools and pressed before the end of the fermentation, which finished without skins. The wine matured in a 4,000-liter oak vat, eight used 500-liter oak barrels and two 700-liter concrete eggs for 12 months. It's serious, with ripeness and structure but neatly balanced. It comes in at 13.95% alcohol, with a pH of 3.3 and 5.45 grams of acidity. The 2024s seem to have more structure, probably thinking about a longer life in bottle for this vintage, which was challenging for some but not for them. It rained a lot at the end of the harvest, but the vines became rehydrated, and they felt they were more balanced. 12,500 bottles produced. It was bottled in July 2025.

Suckling om: Malayeto Garnacha

Dark cherries with red berries, underbrush and a stony austerity that turns floral with air. The medium- to full-bodied palate has grip and structure, chiseled and skeletal, with a saline touch in the finish. From a lieu-dit that shares its name with the wine. Drink or hold.

Tim Atkin om: Malayeto Garnacha

From a vineyard in Fitero planted on own rootstock, this Garnacha offers wonderfulimmediacy with inviting red cherry aromas and lots of ripeness and warmth on the palate. There is a certain silkiness to the wine, voluptuous if you like, balanced with a stoneyvibrancy and direct acidity. It finishes with a herbal lift and invites further exploration(at least a second bottle, for sure…!).

Galloni om: Malayeto Garnacha

The 2024 Malayeto opens with hints of violet and pomegranate framed by soft thyme and rosemary, plus a subtle balsamic tone and delicate oak. The palate carries good tension, gentle grip and attractive freshness. It is slightly firm in feel, but good energy balances it out.
