Tameran Malvasia Volcánica
The barrel and foudre fermented and aged 2022 Malvasía Volcánica, a natural crossing between Marmajuelo and Malvasía Aromática, is moderately floral and perfumed (the variety is more neutral than the Aromática one), and it has good ripeness and 11.8% alcohol with a vibrant palate and great freshness. The palate is more austere than I expected, which I like. This is the most-planted variety in the zone and in the property. 12,000 bottles were produced. It was bottled in June 2022. 93+/100 *** Tamerán is the name of the winery in Gran Canaria from footballer David Silva, who recently retired from the sport. Jonatan García from Suertes del Marqués in Tenerife is in charge of the wines. 2020 was the first vintage, and they finished building the winery in 2021. Silva has six hectares of vines in production and a further 1.5 of new plantings in the village of San Bartolomé de Tirajana. In 2022, they bought some grapes from the zone and also from the north of the island, in the higher-altitude village of San Mateo. They harvest early (they are in the south of the island, a warmer zone), and they block malolactic. Production is 16,000 bottles.
