The 2019 Barbaresco Crichët Pajé opens with the most captivating, perfumed bouquet imaginable. Crushed flowers, mint, pipe tobacco, cedar and sweet red cherry fruit are some of the many aromas and flavors that start to develop over time. Today, the 2019 is quite gracious, even airy, with super-finessed tannins. I expect it will gain body and stature with time in bottle, although its pedigree is amply evident even at this early stage. The 2019 is the first Crichët Pajé since 2016. It was bottled in the summer of 2026, a year earlier than is the norm at this address.
