Striking nose of rosehip and lime zest with delicate wild flower and herb aromas. Simultaneously structured and elegant, this dry riesling has remarkable concentration for just 11.5% alcohol. Long, silky, mineral finish. Drink or hold. 93/100

The 2021 Riesling Kallstadter Saumagen Kabinett trocken is both the first and the last harvest in this site, the very first pick of the green-tinged grapes and then the last pick, on 26 October 2021, of the grapes that still had a bright green color. The nose is restrained, but peach skin and pear peel come through, along with a subtle yeastiness. The palate comes in beautifully buffered, with apparent freshness, doing justice to its Kabinett status. It's bone-dry, smooth and, in a Pfalz-way, slender, still colored with that lovely streak of lemon and peach. This has both substance and style. (Bone-dry) 93/100

Bottled in early July the this year, the 2021 Kallstadter Saumagen Riesling Kabinett trocken is still young and a bit closed on the clear, deep and stony nose. Fine and very elegant on the palate, this is a round, lush, refined, firm and persistently salty Saumagen with a long and intense finish. This is a serious, sustainably intense Riesling with substance and terroir expression after a long hang-time. It needs tine, though. 11.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in August 2022. 92+/100
