Champagne Les Beguines LC23 Extra Brut (Basis)
The NV Les Béguines (2023 base), disgorged in October 2025 with a dosage of 2.5 grams per liter, has turned out well. It offers aromas of orange oil, mirabelle plum and pear mingled with dried flowers, spices and freshly baked bread. Full-bodied, layered and concentrated, the palate is ample and textural, with a crisper core of fruit than such a warm vintage might suggest, structured around chalky extract and racy acids that carry through to a long, sapid finish. As ever, it was matured largely in 500-liter barrels, with very little in the way of new oak. Prévost notes that he vinified this bottling with slightly higher levels of sulfites than previously to compensate for the inherent fragility of Pinot Meunier, which appears to have contributed to the precision of this release.
