Cotes du Rhone
A year-in, year-out smoking value, the 2023 Côtes Du Rhône has a deep ruby, almost purple, opaque hue and a Syrah-driven nose of smoky black fruits, ground pepper, a touch of game, and violets. With air, it picks up more Southern Rhône-like notes of herbes de Provence and sweet Provençal spices. Based on 50% Syrah, 40% Grenache, and 10% Mourvèdre aged in foudre for 18 months, it's medium-bodied, round, supple, forward, and beautifully balanced. Another terrific wine from this team, it will undeniably put a smile on your face. I love it today, and while these are best four to six years after the vintage, I've had them with significant age, so don't be afraid to hold bottles for a decade or so. Drink 2026-2033.
