25 Jul, 2022 – This is properly ripe, but also super-sleek and super-bright, with remarkably intense minerality for this grape, which is often dismissed as being incapable of expressing that. The crisp pear and melon fruit appears for the first time at the finish, reversing the usual way the wines of this grape function. Very hard to believe this has 13.5% natural alcohol! From organically grown grapes with Fair'n Green certification. Drink or hold. 94/100

From red slate and porphyry soils in the Stromberg and vinified in tonneaux and stainless steel with prevented malolactic fermentation, the 2021 Grauburgunder 'S' trocken offers a coolish, precise and elegant, very delicate but also intense and stimulating bouquet with clear and elegant, aromatic, flinty-scented fruit. Lush and full-bodied on the palate, this is a generous and rich but stimulating, piquant and finessed Pinot Gris with supple fruit but saline minerality and crystalline acidity. 13.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in July 2022. 93/100
