Heiner Lobenberg om:
Chateau Mouton Rothschild 1er Cru 2022

Lidt Pichon-Lalande-agtig.

Moving to the flagship, the 2022 Château Mouton Rothschild is a massive, full-bodied, incredibly powerful 2022 that takes no prisoners with its ripe black and blue fruits, chocolate, graphite, and smoked tobacco-driven aromas and flavors. Deep, unctuous, and concentrated, with velvety tannins, this legendary Mouton is based on 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Merlot that's still resting in new barrel. It will unquestionably play with the top wines in the vintage. Harvest here began the 1st of September and finished on the 26th, and the final wine hit 14% natural alcohol, with a pH of 3.89 and an IPT of 76. 98-100/100

Suckling om: Chateau Mouton Rothschild 1er Cru

Wow. The aromas here are so complete with blackcurrants, asphalt, violets, lead pencil, orange blossoms and black truffles. A perfect nose. It's full-bodied yet tied down with seamless tannins that run the length of the wine and give such a seductive mouthfeel and persistence. A vintage with one of the highest percentages of cabernet sauvignon ever. Quintessential, great Bordeaux with no limits. Drink after 2028.

The Wine Palate om: Chateau Mouton Rothschild 1er Cru

Opulent, Bold, Black Fruit, Cassis, Violets, Crushed/Wet Rocks, Medium to Full bodied, Refreshing Acidity, Subtle Oak, Grainy Texture, High Tannin, Needs Time. Deep garnet-purple colored, after a swirl or two of coaxing, it charges out of the gate with powerful notes of crème de cassis, plum preserves, and violets, followed by hints of camphor, iron ore, and crushed rocks. The medium to full-bodied palate is densely packed with rich, opulent black fruit layers, supported by superbly ripe tannins and wonderful freshness, finishing long and multi-layered. A real wow wine!

Decanter om: Chateau Mouton Rothschild 1er Cru

Spicy liquorice, bitter chocolate, tobacco, cigar, and aniseed on the nose. Round and bright, with juicy, delicate fruit and velvety tannins. Super concentrated yet graceful, layering ripeness, freshness, and stoniness. Controlled power - soft in texture but packed with Cabernet structure. Starts juicy and creamy, then surges with depth and length. Sweet black fruit meets cool, steely minerality, giving complexity and definition. Black liquorice on a sticky finish. Bold for Mouton but outstanding, this is going to deliver for decades. 3.68pH. Ageing 100% new oak.

Jeff Leve om: Chateau Mouton Rothschild 1er Cru

Dark in color, and equally dark in fruit, this is a flamboyant, ostentatious, opulent, velvet-textured Mouton that is on the exotic side. Perhaps, this is a modern version of the 1982? The wine exudes its blackberry, boysenberry, chocolate, Asian spice, tobacco leaf, licorice, smoke, and cigar wrapper notes in the perfume. On the palate, the wine is incredibly dense. There is so much fruit, you wonder if it would be better eating this with a spoon, before taking another sip? The finish is rich, intense, velvety, long, and close to seamless, holding court for over 50 seconds. I love the touch of spice that shines before the wine fades from your palate. The wine blends 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Merlot. 14% ABV, 3.89 pH. The harvest took place September 1 - September 26. Yields were 32 hectoliters per hectare. Only 49% of the harvest was used to produce the Grand Vin. Drink from 2030-2065.

Mouton Rothschild
