Heiner Lobenberg om:
Chateau Lascombes 2eme Cru 2023
/100
Her skal potentialet udnyttes fuldt ud.

Wonderfully pure and evocative florality. Smooth yet succulent, full of energy and grace with ample tannins but softly chewy, giving great support to the ripe, just-fleshy red berry fruit. Needs time, but there’s structure, plenty of flavour and layers of complexity; at the same time juicy, lifted and fun. Gorgeous. Minty, chalky, such a lot going on here.

Galloni om: Chateau Lascombes 2eme Cru
The 2023 Lascombes is an incredibly classy, elegant wine. Lifted, deep aromatics make a strong first impression. Crushed flowers, mint, bright red-toned fruit, chalk and mint are beautifully delineated. This is such an elegant, refined, dynamic Lascombes. The 2023 is pure and total sensuality—a wine that very clearly opens a new chapter for this second growth.

Suckling om: Chateau Lascombes 2eme Cru
Blackberries, orange blossoms, black currants and a hint of chocolate on the nose and palate. It's medium- to full-bodied with round and lightly chewy tannins and a long and focused finish with hints of spices and cedar. Chiseled. Needs time to soften. Best after 2028.
The Wine Palate om: Chateau Lascombes 2eme Cru
The 2023 Lascombes is deep garnet-purple in color. The nose slowly unfurls to reveal notes of juicy blackberries, cedar, and warm cassis, followed by hints of candied violets, anise, and fertile loam, with a waft of tobacco. The medium-bodied palate is filled with juicy black fruit and earthy layers, framed by firm, grainy tannins and great tension, finishing on a lingering minerally note. The blend is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot.

Jeb Dunnuck om: Chateau Lascombes 2eme Cru
A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc aged 18 months in 60-70% new barrels, foudres, and amphorae, the 2023 Château Lascombes is an incredibly classy, serious Margaux with darker fruits, spicy wood, dried flowers, and chocolate-driven aromatics. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has ripe, polished tannins, beautiful purity and balance, and a great finish. This is the first year where Axel had full control, and this wine is brilliantly done. It will keep for 30 years. Drink 2029-2056.

Colin Hay om: Chateau Lascombes 2eme Cru
(Margaux; 60% Cabernet Sauvignon; 37% Merlot; 3% Petit Verdot & Cabernet Franc; similar final yield to last year of 35 hl/ha, with little impact from mildew but some reduction from desiccation from the Merlot of deep gravel and often young vines (c. 20 hl/ha); 13.5% alcohol; tasted at the UGC press tasting at the Cité du Vin and then at the property with Axel Heinz; selected only from the historical core of the estate that was classified in 1855; very little moistening of the caps and a shorter maceration to preserve the brightness of the fruit). Sourced now only from the historic heart of the property, the parcels closest to the Château. This is the first full vintage under the tutelage of Axel Heinz (who arrived from Masseto at the end of the 2021 vintage). It already shows. What grace! I’m really excited to taste this and am actually overwhelmed at first by the aromatics. A statement wine. Parfumiers’ essence of violet over and around a gloriously plump and plush, crunchy, dark purple berry and stone fruit – damson, cherry, wild blueberry and mulberry. A sublimation of the quality of the fruit. Shimmering in the mid-palate with very impressive layering. So seductively soft on the entry, and so well packed with fresh fruits. Dense and compact and very much on track now to compete with its second growth peers. A work in progress but don’t underestimate what has already been achieved here. Crucially, for me, this is still so expressively Lascombes. We know where we are, despite – or perhaps even more so – because of the style change. The tannic grip helps maintain the precision on the finish.
Parker om: Chateau Lascombes 2eme Cru
A wine that begins a new era for this estate, the 2023 Lascombes (which I examined from separate components before tasting the prospective blend) offers up aromas of dark berries and plums mingled with hints of crushed mint, violets and pencil shavings. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and velvety, with good depth and purity, it's a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot. This estate, which was formerly one of the Médoc's poster children for over-ripeness and over-extraction, is assuredly coming in from the cold.
Jeff Leve om: Chateau Lascombes 2eme Cru
The first vintage with the new owners, with Axel Heinz calling the shots, comes through nicely with its nose of flowers, incense, spice, and black, with red, and blue fruits. On the palate, the wine is soft, supple, subtle, and fresh, There is energy here, as well as a relaxed, silky feeling on the palate. The freshness in the finish is capped with by mint leaves, spice, and vibrant, currants with cocoa on the backend. The wine blends 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, and an even mix of Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. 13.5% ABV. This is an updated style for the chateau. Loads of big changes here starting with the amount of wine placed into the Grand Vin slashed by more than 30%. The aging program is 50% new French oak, with a lighter toast, used barrels, and foudres. Drink from 2028-2055.
Lisa Perrotti Brown om: Chateau Lascombes 2eme Cru
The 2023 Lascombes is deep garnet-purple in color. Scents of freshly crushed blackberries, cassis, and black raspberries leap from the glass, leading to touches of menthol, dark chocolate, licorice, and violets in the background. The medium-bodied palate delivers impressive intensity, with vibrant black and red berry layers and a fine-grained texture lifted by a racy backbone, finishing long and minerally. This represents a real change in style to a classic beauty! The blend is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot.
