Lafon Rochet 2022 har en meget elegant næse af sorte kirsebær, men ikke sød. Også cassis, uden sukker, uden sødme, lakrids, uden fedt. Fin og ligetil. En meget flot Saint-Estèphe, fordi den er så afbalanceret. Munden er helt samlet. Sort igen, uden tvivl, men sort og ligefrem. Meget harmonisk, god kraft, rent defineret til venstre og højre. Meget flot Saint-Estèphe og ikke langt efter Phélan Ségur. Gode sager, hvis prisen er rigtig. 96/100 *** Lafon Rochets 40 hektar vinmarker ligger ved siden af Lafite-Rothschild og Cos. Vinen blev certificeret biodynamisk, faldt så ud igen og er nu tilbage i omlægning til økologi med de nye købere, som også ejer Pedesclaux. Fantastisk terroir, en udfordrer til jagten på Calon-Ségur, på linje med Phélan Ségur og Meyney.

Årsrapporten

2022 vil gå over i historien som en fremragende årgang med hensyn til kvalitet. Og det på trods af, at det var den tørreste sommer i Frankrig, siden man begyndte at registrere den, og det varmeste år i det hele taget siden 1947.

The 2022 Lafon-Rochet is pure class. Silky, aromatic and gracious, Lafon-Rochet is quite possibly the most under-the-radar Saint-Estèphe. Bright blue/purplish fruit, lavender, sage, mint and spice are all beautifully delineated. A wine of sublime elegance and class, Lafon-Rochet is exquisite in 2022.

Deep and ripe but still very demure on the nose, with dark chocolate, cigar box, blackcurrants, white pepper and a touch of graphite. Very juicy and nicely chewy on the palate, with a full body and a tight, lengthy finish. This won’t be approachable until 2029.

Rocking notes of currants, leafy tobacco, cassis, graphite, and crushed stone nuances all emerge from the 2022 Château Lafon-Rochet, a seriously good, concentrated, powerful expression from this château that has beautiful purity, ripe, building, yet substantial tannins, and a great finish. It's going to need some time, but this is brilliant.

Silky smooth with excellent freshness, firm fleshy tannins and a minty, liquorice-tinged freshness throughout. Tannins are fine and supportive and give this a broad mouthfeel while keeping direction and forward motion. Sophisticated with plenty of layers of flavour while keeping a classic touch despite the tough vintage conditions. Still a little shy, give this a few years, but great potential for future enjoyment. Strength and succulence. Brilliant.

Rich in color, the wine is floral, with pepper, spice, tobacco leaf, currants, and blackberries. Medium-bodied, fresh, soft, ripe, round, and polished, with blackberries, black cherries, chocolate, spice, and cedar nuances. The fruits are fresh, bright, and creamy. Give this just a few years in the bottle and it promise to be even better! The wine was made from blending 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, and 4% Cabernet Franc. 14.5% ABV, 3.77 pH. This is the first vintage with the new owner, Jackie Lorenzetti, and the team of Emmanuel Cruse, fully in charge. Drink from 2025-2045.

De 40 hektar vinmarker på Lafon Rochet ligger lige ved siden af Lafite-Rothschild og Cos d'Estournel. Tesseron-familien (bror til ejeren af Pontet-Canet) lod ejendommen totalrenovere i 1960'erne og indførte en række tekniske nyskabelser i kælderen.
