One of a duo of vintages of Fuente de Las Hontanillas on the market, this is an intriguing cuvée of Verdejo, 22% Godello and 18% Albillo Mayor from young vineyards on clay and limestone soils. Deftly wooded in one-third new oak, it has a waft of vanilla spice, flavours of lime, greengage and grapefruit and lots of tangy acidity. Delicious stuff.

Jeb Dunnuck om: Aalto Blanco Fuente de las Hontanillas

After two years of dryness, the 2024 vintage had a more normal level of rain. The 2024 Blanco de Parcela Fuente de las Hontanillas reflects that balance with its sinewy, sharp acidity, blending 65% Verdejo, 22% Godello, and the rest Albillo Mayor from older vineyards. It’s tremendously fresh and medium-bodied, aged gently in larger-size oak for 10 months, a complex, refreshing white that’s well-worth your time.

Galloni om: Aalto Blanco Fuente de las Hontanillas

The 2024 Fuente de Las Hontanillas is a blend of 60% Verdejo, 22% Godello and 18% Albillo from Quintanilla de Arriba, Castilla y León. Soft aromas of herbs and green apple lead the nose, followed by acacia, honey and a backdrop of fine oak. With air, notes of pineapple and white flowers emerge. Tight and saline on the palate, with elevated freshness and chalky textures, it finishes long and flavorful. A delicious white in the renewed landscape of Ribera wines, though outside the DO.

Parker om: Aalto Blanco Fuente de las Hontanillas

The white 2024 Blanco de Parcela Fuente de las Hontanillas displays a bright, pale-yellow color and an expressive, clean and focused nose. It was produced with an unusual blend of Verdejo, Godello and Albillo Mayor, fermented and matured in barrel for 10 months. It has good ripeness, 13% alcohol, a pH of 3.23 and 5.92 grams of acidity, denoting a more complete and fresher vintage. The oak is neatly integrated, and the wine has notes of fruit and flowers coupled with spice. It has a fine texture and is chalky, tasty and sapid, with a clean finish. 13,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in September 2025.

Smagsnotat

Weingut om: Aalto Blanco Fuente de las Hontanillas

During autumn, several weather fronts passed through, bringing abundant rainfall—over 250 mm—and mild temperatures, above the seasonal average. It was not until December that the first fogs appeared, along with a sharp drop in temperatures. The year began with cold weather and rain that continued throughout winter. By mid-March, temperatures became milder, even reaching unusually high levels for that time of year (27°C). This caused the vines to bud earlier, in the first days of April. The month was marked by unstable weather, and on the 23rd and 24th, severe frosts occurred across the Ribera region, causing considerable damage in some areas. In May, instability persisted, with some storms bringing hail to various zones. June began with mild daytime temperatures and cooler nights, followed by hot days and warm nights. Summer continued with variable weather: July saw fluctuating temperatures and a lack of rainfall. August began with heat and thunderstorms and ended with a DANA (a high-altitude depression) that affected the entire country. The grape harvest began on September 16th under unstable weather conditions. White wine aged in oak from mostly our verdejo vineyards located in Fuente de las Hontanillas (Quintanilla de Arriba – Valladolid) at an altitude higher than 850 meters. Other varieties: godello and albillo are used but in less percentage. Visually, this wine presents a bright yellow color. On the nose, aromas of fruit are well integrated with subtle spicy notes. On the palate, it is fresh; its aging gives it volume and a pleasant persistence.
