-- Galloni: The 2023 Riesling Geisenheimer Rothenberg Grosses Gewächs has for years been a quietly brilliant GG in the Wegeler portfolio, now it shines. This grew on a site of iron-rich clay and quartzite and it fermented in new and used Stück. A lovely pure tone of lemon highlights the subtle herbal savor that characterizes it year after year. This shimmers with peppery verve, crushed yarrow and creaminess in equal measure. The palate is clear-cut but superbly smooth. It glides, moves, shimmers and charms. The elegance is inherent, so is slenderness and concentration. The finish is tinged with a tender hint of orange peel. (Bone-dry)
