-- Weingut: Reviving the voice of a forgotten Penedes. Muntanya is a tribute to the silenced landscape. To recover is to look at the land again with respect; it is to awaken the dormant memory of a place, to give it back its breath, to care for it, to listen to it, and to offer it new life without erasing the traces of the past. Since 2017, we have been weaving silent yet deep connections with winegrowers and parcels of the Montmell, working the land alongside those who have always known it from within. The search for a unique space to vinify the wines of Can Sumoi led us to discover disused, forgotten, or abandoned wine cooperatives. Hidden corners of a lesser-known Penedès— concealed behind the glare of familiar routes — yet rich in history and carrying a vibrant winemaking legacy. Along the way, we’ve rediscovered a forgotten Penedès: humble but brave, with winegrowers who work their vineyards with the same passion and honesty as the country’s greatest names. We’ve found bonds and friendships that have opened their doors to us — to their effort, to their quiet tenacity — and together we dream of bringing old vines back to life, in little-traveled lands, restoring the voice of a territory that had faded into the shadows. Muntanya was born from a deep desire to return value to this austere, pure landscape, where the grape has long been undervalued. It is a sparkling wine that defends the uniqueness of this corner of the world — full of memory, but also of absence. A sparkling wine that loves, fights, and stands up for the people, the villages, and the vineyards that were once silenced. In October 2025, we will present the first vintage of Muntanya 2024 — made from vineyards in the Montmell. That same October, the future 2025 vintage of this sparkling wine will begin to be vinified in a cooperative we are in the process of restoring. One more step in our commitment to the land, bringing new life to Xarel·lo and Macabeu vines — and raising once again the voice of a land that has never stopped speaking. This new wine is born from observation, experience and respect for the territory. Macabeu, with balanced ripening and vibrant acidity, brings freshness and structure. Xarel·lo, present in a small proportion, is a firm commitment to quality and pure expression of the variety. It comes from the Montmell mountain (between 400 and 700 meters above sea level). Mountain soils, alluvial calcareous calcareous loamy soils. The typicity of these soils gives rise to a sparkling wine with its own personality, different from that found in the Conca del Riu Anoia. The mountain Xarel·lo brings balance, acidity and a great aging capacity.
